There's one clear 1890 photo of the ladder and it does not look exactly like the current ladder. it appears to have the plank steps mounted vertically rather than horizontally, so they appear wide in the old photo. Are they kidding about that same flimsy wood ladder has been in that same spot baking in the sun for 300 years? No way.

The ladder has been replaced with a newer ladder. If you look at the old footage you can see this is a new ladder and not the same ladder that was there in the old video footage. They can't agree to remove the ladder but apparently, it does not take a lot of agreement to put a new ladder in its place.
