Could a Battle Royale Game Happen in Real Life? You keep saying that we are just like the Romans and may lust for violence as much as them. No we are not and probably not as likely. Much of the cities used lead pipes to transport their water, ate off lead plates, and even flavored wine with lead (lead acetate) that a shocking number of them had lead poisoning. We now know lead poison causes brain impairment with cognitive deficiencies and bad temperament. In fact, in the 19th century, hat makers used lead in the production and it was common place for workers to go crazy. Thats were we got the phrase mad as a hatter.

Eventually, overpopulation is gonna be our biggest problem and with this, comes more demand for food, water and shelter. These are all limited resources and without the stable supply coming in, majority of the population are either going to turn to crime to sustain themselves or die off. Only a vast minority will have the means to sustain themselves.
If people are hungry and desperate, they-d do anything to feed themselves. Considering this, a Battle Royale is plausible and may even be a solution with long-term effects.

Start a comment section battle royale:
1) say -dropped- when you join
2) you have to say -(you) defeated (name of a participant) as fast as you can after I say start, before they say it to you.
3) anyone can join anytime.
4) also, nobody DIES in this game, if someone said your name and defeats you, say -down-
Nobody would ever actually play this but if they would i would be surprised.

i would actually like to do something like this, but to avoid the media backlash I will set this up so when someone gets an injury, gets eliminated, and his life is spared, the person who kills other person will be sent to court and will be sent to jail for killing someone.
the winner will be the last person that didn't either give up or get injured(eliminated.

To illustrate that 'gladiator' behavior is not limited to ancient Rome, as far back as 1600 BC the Aztecs played a game called ullamaliztli. to the death. The losing team would be decapitated following the game. The game would also consist of both volunteers vs. volunteers, and volunteers vs. slaves/captives.

Battle Royale was, in all fairness, a pretty good movie.
It was one of the only Japanese films at the time with an age restriction (or a high one.
Yes, it was a movie, I know nothing about this 'game' people are talking about.

You lost me when you completely and utterly forgot the fact that the Roman gladiator games aren't all 100% fights to the death. It's less battle royale and more pro wrestling with swords.

Maybe it's me but wouldnt the most logical source of action be to band together to form a stronger society in cases like that? Why would people immediately go feral?
reply

Well, technically real life is a battle royal. With players being dropped in continuously. In the long run we tend to cooperate and life is mostly getting better.

The Gladiators weren't actually supposed to kill each other. There was an intermediary, and you were supposed to injure rather than kill I do believe.

Why couldn't we do this with laser weapons like a massive game of laser tag or even paintballs. Could be a great TV show idea.
