Get to know the Hawaiian legend of the sacred wind gourd and follow Paka a's fight to restore his rightful place beside the king. Long ago, the Hawaiian wind goddess wielded a gourd that housed the winds of the Islands. It came to hold her bones, along with the life force they carried, and was eventually passed to her grandson, Paka'a. Like his father before him, he became the trusted attendant to the king of Hawaii. But his privileged status also made him a target. Sydney Iaukea shares the tale of the king's betrayal. The: Hearing this tale just makes me wish that instead of re-making Moana in live action, Disney would dare to tell other unique stories from the pacific island cultures. There are clearly many other myths worthy of being seen and heard, at least you guys have enough creativity and integrity to share them with us in beautiful detail.

If you ask any other person from Hawai'i, they would tell you that the way our language is spoken in this video is unacceptable and offensive as it comes off as brushing off all the hard work that Native Hawaiians did to resurrect a dying language during the Hawaiian Renaissance. TED-ed sets the bar high for proper education and I love your work but you fumbled hard with all of your Hawaiian videos.

Raise the waves. By the way, I have difficulty communicating because I had a stroke in Broca s area, the part of the brain that controls speech. 2/8/2021 but I lived again. (My wife helped me compose this)

I would be glad to help fix the pronunciation of the Hawaiian words in this video. A shame this video was released without double checking its accuracy with cultural experts or other native people

We lost against him the first time; so let's wager our bones in a rematch against the same person with the same group of people against him. This is a good plan.
