This is the story of the dramatic and violent life of the Middle Ages' most important emperor: Charlemagne. But, one man seemed to evade Charlemagne's grasp: Widukind. The Saxon's legendary leader boldly resisted conversion to Christianity in the face of the Holy Roman Emperor. How did Charlemagne finally defeat the child of the forest?

I know studying this guy's bones will give us a window into the past and give us knowledge we wouldn't normally have but put yourself in his position would you want your remains on display for the rest of eternity or put your rest I honestly can't help but watch this and think is he turning over into this grave because his bones are on display and this is disrespectful to his soul regardless of the knowledge that we can gain

I don't hold this mass murderer to any esteem. He was a brut, he was cruel, and very much a savage, even moreso than the Barbarians that he put to the sword for simply believing differently. This is the truth of the man, a symbol of oppression and a stain on the ideas of freedom.

So many pointless reenactment scenes and irrelevant information. Why spend 5 minutes talking about dude's skeleton? Please cut out the padding and stick to the main topic. This could easily have been condensed to 15 minutes.

I asked Alexa to start shuffling music by Saxon at the beginning of this video and it was even better than playing Darkside of the Moon with The Wizard of Oz. The scene at 6: 00 is the best.

Charlemagne's life therefore reflected the multifaceted nature of Frankish identity; empirically speaking, he was neither French nor German, but Frankish.

Despite his achievements he was something of a genocidal maniac towards peoples who resisted his attempts to Christianise them

Frastrada was very unpopular for some reason. I doubt if she was more politically important to Charlemagne than Hildegaarde.
