I have yet to begin watching the video. My Active Duty was 1982 to 1986 and I had two collapsed lungs and Asbestos exposure. Also Asthma, Panic Disorder and damage to left side from one of the chest tubes. My claim process began in 2005. My Legacy Appeal was finally Granted Aug 2022. I have a Lawyer. The VA was intended to be NOT hostile to Veterans. The medical care is adequate. The benefits; if you live long enough to prevail are okay. It is most definitely an Adversarial process. The burden of proof lies with the Veteran. Current disabilities as caused by injuries while in Service AND you must have a Nexus opinion to connect the two. I won because I went outside of the VA and found my own Board Certified Expert Physicians. And still today, I'm not done yet. The Board of Veterans Appeals only Granted back to 2019. My Appeal was filed in 2014. So, we are going to explore a higher Court for a venue. All I can say to any Veteran is to make sure you do your own leg work. The VA has your C-File; get it! That DVD will have all of your treatment records and you can find evidence there.
Don't give up. I hate to say this but that's what they're hoping for. Our government is actually run by tens of thousands of unelected bureaucrats who justify their ridiculous salaries and benefits by being the gate keepers of Benefits. To be sure, billions of dollars are wasted on fraudulent claims and any immigrant at the Southern Border who is seeking Asylum will get more Benefits almost immediately, before those who Served our country. I don't have a beef with immigrants; just do it the right way. And I damn sure can't stand it when a deserving Veteran has to wait years to get what they earned. Veterans: Never forget that Some Gave All and All Gave Some When we raised our hands twice, and Swore the Oath, we signed a blank check, payable to Uncle Sam for our Lives. The Military is not for most people. Therefore, those few who Served and are Serving, should be treated better than Illegal Immigrants.

Another sad story: My Dad was MAJ with 21 years in USAF. flew T-6, B-25, B-29, C-45, C-47, C-46, C-54, C-119, KC-97, KC-135, B-52D, helicopters and L-19s too. He was TDY in Guam in 1966 and 1968. flew B-52s on some of the first missions over the North. Somehow he got Parkinson's which eventually took his life at 81. It was so bad. for 15 years. We took care of him at our house towards the end because the nursing home also did not care. Seems like the doctor had a 10% deal with them to make sure he fell over. he broke his hip. then his leg. then hit his head. So we took him out of there. The VA did not cover his ( 400, 000) care because crazy Mom had thrown out his logbooks. and they cruelly made these guys prove they were on the ground in Vietnam. I've spoken to his commander who said he had so many calls like that. wrote letters/etc. did no good: We never thought that the people who sent us there would ask us to prove anything. He said he sent Dad there himself many times. They had a fire at Maxwell in 1973 and the records we all needed were destroyed. They even had a gatekeeper guy on the phone who tried to tell me: your Dad's airplane did not fly to Vietnam. . Dad was the coolest guy, who did his duty. and then did not mention it. He did not do it for that. he did it for you. Neighbors (for 40 years) of his did not know he was in the military. And it was not just him being forgotten. hang around the VFW and there are many more ugly stories like this. Plenty of money if Private Equity is getting paid though. What a shameful truth. Because he saw what war really was about, he became a pacifist not happy about those who (drunkenly) supported bombing places they could not find on a map, and were anyway going to the golf course while other people handled their fighting for them. We miss you Dad.

It's funny because always the people blinded by patriotism who sign up, get sent half a world away to fight a war they were never meant to be in then when they get used and left behind fighting some politicians re-election campaign, some weapons company's profits or some generals bid to get another star on their shoulder. You get what you signed up for. You have nothing to complain about when your country uses you then throws you away after. If you don't like it, don't sign up and don't go joining wars, but don't use the excuse of going to college, paying your bills to go half a world away, bringing war to the doorstep of innocent civilians, wiping out their families with airstrikes and drones, kicking down doors, terrifying them holding weapons aimed at them in their living rooms and dragging their family members off and inflicting misery on other people, ruining their lives.

Without a doubt. Most of the younger generation couldn t care less about the sacrifices veterans and their brothers in arms have made for us. I got a local vet who doesn t have a car, I always pull over and offer him a ride when I see him. Without soldiers, we wouldn t have any of the opportunities we enjoy today. To any veteran in the comments, thanks for your service, all great civilizations have been built upon the back of soldiers, you are the clay to sculpt the history of the world, be proud of your part, no matter how insignificant it may feel at times.

Yes, with many of the Vietnam Vets (even saying the Korean vets) with chemical warfare etc - we are suffering - with non-admittance by the military and VA. Same for the recent (thank God I wasn't there - Camp LeJeune water contamination) that was ongoing since the late 1950s. With having a disability since Jan 1975 - this is 48 years that is still being refused, non-admitted, and non-paid. the military, the VA, and the leftist govt are ultimately guilty of evil and decimation.

Trump was very concerned about veteran's welfare, so they were not neglected under Trump and he was also careful not to create new wars to send US troops to. At the same time he made sure US armed forces were well provided with all the good equipment they needed so that when war became unavoidable they would have what was necessary. I wish we in UK had someone like Trump, but instead we have wasters like Boris and a dysfunctional MoD. Trump will be back in 20 months.

Compares to who? Canada? The UK?
They allow veterans to explore euthanasia in Canada. They don t have a VA in the UK. The lads and las just get reactivated, while wearing shorts. The commitment veterans have with each other, the respect private citizens have for former servicemen and woman are noticeable from traveling observers. We can always do better and that goes back to the veteran to bear the responsibility of that choice for themselves as well.

Even movies in the 80s-90s would point this out, like seeing homeless vets. To the government it is all good, so long as the MIC is well fed and oiled. And they know that there's a long line of people ready to join in the grift.
People forget that even ww1 vets were so badly mistreated that they marched to the capital and MacArthur, whom many worship today, wanted to fire live rounds at them because they were exerting their right to protest.

Yessir that's what happens when a person who was involved in a war and you have any injury or killed by a enemy in a big war and it's not very much good for the American young man or women who are also a military branch. But it is really not working very well because we're not very interesting any thing that's not good for the people who are Christian people don't want to get into the American Military nowadays.

I may have to use my headsets to listen to this video, gunshots are too loud while the voices are too soft to understand, and I wish not to disturb my neighbors with the sharp pops. I'm disabled with PTSD (childhood trauma) I havent served in a war. Trying to get services for my handicaps is next to impossible in America, services need a massive upgrade. I cant survive without proper support.

Why on Earth does the title of this documentary not even mention the Veterans Airlift Command?
The current title is misleading and the question asked in it can only be answered with a resounding NO.
The volunteers in the Veterans Airlift Command are heroes. To throw them in with how veterans are looked after by the government, insurance companies, etc is a disgrace.

Only 6. 5 % of American men are veterans. Personally, my GI Bill money wasn't enough to pay the rent on a stifling vacation trailer with a swamp cooler in Yuma Arizona while I worked three jobs and went to college. I spent more time in the Marines than I did in college. The most lasting impact is that 68, 000 of my brothers died for a lie in Viet Nam. And, we lost the war.

No, America doesn't treat bad their veterans. Come on, USA isn't Iran, Ethiopija or Eritrea. When they were in army veterans got a very big salaries, two times larger than average. So because of it many go to army to latter would go to expensive college or university. They also have many privileges and subsidies provided by the army

as a veteran that later took up the call to continue to be my bothers' keeper, the Dept of Veterans' Affairs is lacking, 4 of my Brothers in Arms, that I served with, have taken their own life, 1 on the VAMC campus in front of me, VA is pushing gender and race issues, while we have 20 plus taking their own life a day.

from the looks of it one seems to have been a good soldier if you came home in a black body bag or coffin?
and just as a side thought, has ANYONE EVER seen the sons or daughters of any President, Senator, members of congress or other pen pushers and peacounters seen as soldier? or sent to a war theater?
