Wow, what tone deaf and incomplete coverage of this woman's tragic story. She was almost certainly abused as a child according to witnesses, although the exact nature of that abuse is not known. Witnesses described her family home as devoid of love and she and her siblings appeared traumatized. so much so that this probably the reason she adopted a new identity and did not want to be found. This coverage fails to mention that Lori didn't even collect her inheritance after her father died. This was after she ran away but before she changed her name. Someone had tracked her down to inform her that she had inherited $80, 000. It seemed she was so committed to severing ties with her past that not even her lofty inheritance could motivate her to come out of hiding. In fact, that was when she changed her name, presumably to avoid ever being found again or tied to her past. I think we can safely assume that there was childhood trauma, and that it was probably severe. severe enough to turn down 80k. She never discussed her past with anyone, including her husband, because she wanted to forget about it. She wanted to become someone else because that part of her life was too traumatic to even acknowledge IMO. This coverage also fails to mention the terrible behavior of her husband's family and how that likely led to Lori's suicide. Her husband's family never accepted Lori and judged her harshly for being secretive. They couldn't let it go even though Lori and her husband seemed really happy in the beginning of their marriage. His family reportedly pressured Lori's husband to leave her. She was reportedly desperately in love with him and devastated by this. She feared that his family would use their wealth to help him gain full custody of the child and Lori could not bear losing both the love of her life and her daughter, who was her whole world. She says all this in her note actually. Lori had escaped her traumatic childhood and finally found a family of her own where she felt loved and accepted (by the immediate family- her husband and daughter- not his extended family) only to have that taken from her. This story is heartbreaking and isn't getting the coverage it deserves with the proper narrative.

How the hell do you run away at 18! Youre a LEGAL ADULT! She said she was leaving and not come after me! All totally legal. So to file a missing persons report a LEGAL ADULT who didnt disappear but said she was leaving and wanted to be left alone is ridiculous.
Maybe thats why she felt she had to steal a dead babies identity. Apparently her parents didnt understand you cant run away as an adult! They still filed a missing persons report to do exactly opposite of what she wanted. They were most likely helicopter parents and she wanted to get far away from that. Seems like she knew they wouldnt listen nor would they let her live her life.
Also no one does that the minute they turn 18 unless some kind of abuse is going on that they have get away from and will do ANYTHING, even illegal shit, to be able to do it. How the police even agreed to file a report on an adult that didnt just disappear is weird.

All of u here are blaming the family for abuse and so on. But I guess her motive to change her name might be different.
My theory: She came to Idaho without any money. Couldn't get any good paying job due to lack of education. Now may be from her friends or colleagues there came to know that withing as a stripper would earn her good amount. But also coming from a respectable family she didn't want anyone to find out that she worked as a stripper. That's why she took the new identity as Becky Sue Turner. Even when married she took a new identity to distance away from stripper identity. All this hiding away, caused her to be paranoid. Thus going insane and committing suicide.

Could be many things. She may have been fleeing abuse or she could have experienced some sort of mental break. A break that caused her to have paranoid thoughts and therefore caused her to change identities to avoid perceived threats. I notice there's no mention of her filing any police reports about someone harassing her (like someone from her past finding her in her new assumed identity) so why did she change it more than once. Again, I'm thinking around 18 she had some kind of mental break and spent the rest of her all too short life undiagnosed or treated.
reply

Why couldn't they just let her be? She was only using the name of a deceased person to hide behind. She was not impersonating anyone or committing any financial fraud. She had worked so hard to get to a semblance of normalcy. And then she had to be confronted by her past and broke. It's a sad, sad case. The pictures of her smiling through her constant anxiety are heartbreaking.

are you sure this is actually complicated? Certainly abandonment issues coupled with postpartum depression. this isn't an uncommon problem after having a child. the only part one might debate really -- i mean professionally -- might be are Dissociative Identity Disorder and/or Schizophrenia involved. Because something personality-related was a bit off.

Identity theft of this type was one of the recommended methods in a book I read years ago (probably in the 1980s. Before the internet and connected databases, often an infant death was apparently not associated with a recently issued birth certificate. State Governments would, upon request, provide a replacement birth certificate.

The fact that she was really overprotective could be a sign of past trama. The fact that she changed her identity several times means that she was trying to get away from family she might have been threatened from her former abuser its sad she didnt have a safe place to be open about what happened.
reply

Whatever her reasons, she had every right to leave and find a new life.
She was an adult when she created a new life.
The only person she should explain herself to.
She must have been traumatised at some time in her life.
I believe others may know but choose not to reveal.

Doesn't sound like her husbands family treated her nicely. People with mental health shouldn't be let off with dangerous or unacceptable behaviour but everything you find about this case makes it sound like they did everything they could to turn her husband against her.

Theres so much missing in this. Like how her dad was an alcoholic. How after he died, he left her half of his estate and she didnt want it. And goes into hiding not long after shes contacted about the 84k thats left to her, and doesnt take it.
reply

At age 18 (at 1: 03, she did not run away from home. She wasn't a child. She was a legal adult, with an expectation to move out to fend for herself. Most of the speculation and hype surrounding this incident is just sheer nonsense.

I remember a friend of my sister in the 90's took a consumers bill and her birth certificate and got a new driver's license.
If she could borrow the identity of a friend then I am sure this lady could do the same in the 80's

reply

I had a friend when I was a teen we were 16 when she ran away from boarding school. She stole another girls Canadian id and sailed over the border. She joined a cult and changed her name. I never heard from her again
reply

She grew up in a cult changed identity to escape. They were into child sacrifices thts why she was so protective over her child the cult ties tun deep and they are wealthy and very powerful. I am here to shed light.

It doesn't mention that a private investigator had found her before in Utah. Her biological father died and left her $84, 000. She didn't want the money. She was upset she'd been found. Other videos mention that.
reply

She killed her self because shes the one who started the fire. Thats how she was able to obtain the kids birth certificate in the first place. She couldnt live with guilt anymore. But why did she start the fire?
reply

I swear I knew this woman, her Texas drivers license with the address 2436 Harwood Rd bedford texas was literally blocks from where I lived back in the late 80's. So familiar yet I can't totally place her.
reply

Hm. This is the kind of thing having loyal and good friends, and a caring community willing to have difficult conversations with you, help you to avoid. Sad and tragic she didnt have those.
reply

She was mayb hidding from the discovery of a crime in her past which others did not know about yet; a very shame arousing matter if she took her own life 2 avoid a confrontation
