I never met J. Fred Muggs, but he and his kindred were neighbors of mine in a triplex apartment I rented from Buddy Mennella outside of Tampa decades ago. The middle unit was most always vacant during my stay, rented as I recall by a merchant marine. The chimps greeted my coming and going noisily over the first few days, but after that acquaintance there was only eerie silence when I passed by. They knew me! In the middle of the night you'd sometimes hear the rattle of a cage door or a low hoot, but such beginnings almost always marked the beginning of a chorus that would grow louder, ending with climactic banging and screaming from the whole group that would briefly rattle the walls. This was routine for them and peace soon followed. Remarkably, one gets used to such things, just as when you live by the train tracks or an airport, and once I became used to the chimps I found those noises easier to live with than the customs of most human neighbors.

This is bullshi! t I would know. y by! Gave Garroway jr. here. First the chip was dads idea. that audition was set up by him Dad had no envy, he was happy he saved the show. And if he did spike orange juice it would have been with dexedrine not benzedrine. Of this you can be sure. Read my book about Pop coming out next year. he did get bit. Dad was cool the chimp grew up'hit puberty and became violent. tore up the set all day. You guys need to do real research not alleged rumors, before you slander the name of good man. do not be lazy. peace D. G. jr

As far as anyone can tell, this chimp is _Still Alive_. 70 years old. 20 more than any typical chimp, and possibly coming up on a record.
