'Bloodsport' Is Based On A Real Man

Bloodsport, the film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, was based on a real man, Frank Dux. The catch is, nothing about the story was actually real. The truth of Frank Dux's life and the elaborate lies he told are even more bananas than the film itself.

Back in the 70s into the 80s in these tournaments were called the line tournaments but usually consisted of up to 50 participants and the winner stayed out in the competition mat where there was only one mat back then, not 3 and the way they operated it was it started from the light weights and went to the heavy weights with the winner staying out. Similar rules did apply though. There was a UFC champion that competed in these as well at towards the start of the UFC who trained under jack Williams who also fought the kumites and was actually pretty good but I do not know exactly how many wins jack did at all from there, I just know Jack's teachings and a couple of his students that I fought against in these line tournaments. Jack was also in the military but I am not sure where he served nor trained. He was in world war 2 though and every coach that was friends with Jack personally in which I know of only 3, served with him in world war 2 and the last one just died a few months back who taught in Tampa Florida. His son Keith teaches in the city today still.

Why lie about all that. To me he looks not in great shape. Why did u guys give him a lie minchin. And give him to prove it with a real fighter. If Bruce Lee was alive during that time. He could try prove it. For underground there is. Just some people don't wish to say. Is privet place for fighters only. I think j. c. v. damm he more better shape. Then frank. The fasts kick. I don't know about that. But sure with Bruce Lee. He tells and show the real. Speed. For star guy as Frank dux he had real story. Why did they both mad a movie van dam and chuck Norris. I like frist movie. Blood sport and last one. With Dave Battista.

#1. Well done with exposition without subsiding to Opinion. #2. Those in military operations outside of the norm of public War Reels. simply do not speak or even promote their alleged accounts due to the Oath taken ( Reference the U. C. M. J. ) by EVERY Single part of the US Military Personnel. Enlisted. and Officer Alike. #3. The few ( Not ALL ) to whom have never served in any engagement. Foreign And/Or Domestic. often will. unfortunately commit what is called Stolen Valor in order to beef up their ALREADY earned uniform. in ANY BRANCH. IN ANY COUNTRY. IN ANY CAPACITY. #4. We do not talk. about Fight Club.

I love the movie and even though I've seen the credits state that it was based on a true story while listing Dux's supposed accomplishments, I never cared to do research on him. This pretty much applies to everyone I know/knew that saw the film. I've never met anyone who bothered looking up Frank Dux or have mentioned his name among the best fighters ever. In other words, the movie surpassed the man. No one gave a crap about the real Dux. The fact that Dux turned out to be a joke is an interesting thing to know but I still have no interest in him

Frank Dux is nothing but a massive fraud. You want to investigate someone who helped make a massive change to a form of martial arts, particularly in the UK? Look into Hydan Foster, founder of the Institute Of Aikido. He was a fantastic martial artist and a genuinely lovely guy. I feel honored to have been able to be trained by him.

What's amazing is that thru ones own imagination a movie was made and that movie paved the way for UFC which ironically turned into what Dux was imagining. I met him randomly months ago. Took a pic w him seems like a nice guy. Should have challenged him to a fight to see if he was for real

Hello, I'm Leonard Nimoy. The following tale of alien encounters is true and by true I mean false. It's all lies but they're entertaining lies and in the end isn't that the real truth? The answer is no. - Leonard Nimoy from The Simpsons, The Springfield Files.

Love your inserts of it's true, but not really. Your commentary made me giggle.
Van Dam is a cool guy.
Dux is evidently tweaked in the head according to what you have said and what I read in the comments. Did he keep his stories consistent?

Bloodsport is cool, but it isn't the best movie, and Frank Dux is a douche bag. Even after being presented with the evidence that the bracket challenge, would need like 74 quadrillion competitors, Dux stuck to his lie.

I'm so glad the other narrator got the gig, this bloke just doesn't have the delivery & humour like the bloke now. I'm not putting this narrator down but the other narrator IS Weird History

I love Bloodsport, and I seriously couldn't care less it's based on a fake story. They guy should've been a fiction writer, but sometimes ego doesn't allow you to be honest, lol!

Look at the pic from the beginning of this video. for someone who has fought hundreds of full contact fights its a pure miracle not one of his knuckles is pushed in.

I would love to see a Frank Dux bio pick! It could be like the Tommy Wiseau movie The Disaster Artist. Yo Seth Rogan and James Franco, GET ON THAT!

Frank Dux says Tanaka was buried by a ninja clan in California? LOL! Okay, I had to stop the video for a moment and type that.
reply

I guess all them titles he has mean nothing. This video is real, from something made up, about something real.

There is a illegal tournament there but you will never hear more then that about it unless of course your invited.

Bloodspot was pretty cool as far as martial arts movies go, but I always heard Duks was a bit of a jackass.
