When we think of knights during the medieval times, we think of valiant men who chose to defend their honor in feats of jousting, chivalry, and dragon slaying. But thats not exactly how it was for the actual knights. Today, were exploring What It Was Actually Like to be a Knight During Medieval Times

Yeah, I think the statement about the armour being a burden was untrue as knights trained in armour so they would be used to fighting in it and they could survive wounds in armour that would have outright killed a man with no armour. Also, as someone else said earlier, it was the crossbow being brought to Europe that made armour obsolete but interestingly enough you still actually see lance-armed horsemen being used even during the Pike and Shot era like the famous Winged Hussars of Poland who fought on horseback but did away with the heavier destrya horses used by medieval knights that were bred for strength and bred horses focused on speed and made lances that were hollow in the middle so that they could carry lances even longer than traditional knight lances so that they could charge quickly into a unit of handgunners while they reloaded.
So to conclude the armour used by knights was mostly a benefit as knights were the tanks of their days used to break through enemy formations and roll up a line of infantry even though armour had its drawbacks but once weapon advancements made its protection obsolete that's why it was ditched especially since it was very expensive to produce full plate armour in comparison to how much cheaper it was to mass produce crossbows and how easily someone could be trained to use a crossbow.

A modern soldier carries a rifle of around 3 kilograms, bulletproof vest of around 6kg, a helmet of about 2kg, at least 120 bullets in 4 magazines which add a further 4kg, and that's not even counting rations, water cantin, dogging tools and other equipment.
The basic kit amounts to around 30kg, and a specialized kit for an offensive campaign can go up to 50kg.
- sources on the crossing of the canal in 1973 showed that the storming companies carried each around 60kg of personal kit, and were tasked with crossing the canal rowing in rubber boats, climbing a 30 meter soft sand rampant, storm enemy bunkers and dig in and repulse enemy reinforcements and counterattacks. And it was done in 6 hours.
Fullplate Armour wasn't any heavier that a modern battle kit worn by soldiers everywhere. No one is complaining about modern soldiers being hindered by their equipment.

Your basically talking shit on people who were genetically stronger that us. Even their bones were wider and thicker and more dense. I'd like to see anyone here fight with an 80lbs sword while wearing a 150lbs suit with hinges. I'd give you 10 minuts. The protection is worth it for the strong. We arent like them. We focus on intellect almost to much. We focus on range and offensive capabilities. To many cowards in this generation. How would you like it to be up close and personal with heavy weapons? We are humans. We have more strength than E. T. super technologically advanced gods I think we should use it. Better than nuking the planet for sure. If we get pissed at eachother, let's do it personally instead of talking shit to people to jump your enemies with numbers. Have some honor, cowards.

Dragons never existed no matter how much we wanted them to? I mean there's no proof saying they didn't exist. But there's also no proof saying they did exist. But there is information stating that if they did exist we archaeologists can't find the bones because they had the bones like birds.
But I'm pretty sure if they did exist it wasn't in the medieval times likely way more ancient than that. However historically pterodactyls did hang around to the early 1800s and pterodactyls could have easily been mistaken for what a dragon would be.
Don't quote me on that this is just a comment.

It wasn't easy & they stank. The word 'Knight' is a comparatively recent Linguistic development. The Medeival Era covers roughly the Centuries From the time of Alfred the Great / Charlemagne. to approximately the Third Crusade. The Protestant Reformation followed it close on the heals of the French Wars of Religion (Hugenots). Then, the Renaissance. Most of Europe? Many Children's stories & Nursery Rhymes were inspired by Medieval Characters & people

I think life expectancy was really short because they had no understanding of the reality of things, the macro and micro worlds maybe it was ergot or fungi poisoning bad water, an Armada of different deathly pox viruses, leprosy, scurvy, TB and flu not to mention good ol fashion starvation, but the main reason people led short lives was because of dental issues!

Im pretty sure the green salads and raw fruit quote is supposed to focus on the raw part of it. Vegetables were widely used in medieval cuisine due to it being cheap. However, not cooking it properly, or washing it in unsafe water, could bring diseases or parasites, so it was important to not eat them raw, especially vegetables growing in the earth.

Yeah they drank all the time but so did everyone back then, and it wasnt like normal beer, hell it wasnt even bud light that has 4. 2% ABV. Most of the beer they drank for simple hydration was like 2% alcohol or less. Otherwise how would that even be possible.

Miss Williams/Middle School
The movie is not appropriate for children due to images and language referencing specific parts of a Knight's body.
NOT APPROPRIATE. Please watch entire video, I only previewed 5-8 minutes and read the comments.

Beating priests? Unless that priest was a corrupt dickhead then yeah I don't see why anybody would go around beating up a priest
Also I think I can work with sleeping for half a night, I always wake up at 3: 40 am everyday for no reason anyway

You're a bit wrong about the life expectancy. Sure life expectancy was 35, but the average is skewed because newborns had like a 50/50 shot of actually making it. Once someone lived, it wasn't uncommon for them to live to their 60s/70s

I'm thankful after watching this, as a modern warrior my current battlefield loadout of a tunic, chaps, birkenstocks, and a morning star are fall less strenuous to carry into battle. I lean towards being more mobile.

Im a 140 pound weakling and I have done full drills in plate. Its not that bad and its distributed across the body and is really not that bad (it gets hot tho, fast)armour wasnt that bad its an out dated artifact of media

Please could you let the pictures be viewed as the glances I get are fascinating. However they disappear too quickly as you move onto the next. Its almost a blur. I really would enjoy exploring the pictures. Thanks

knights drank alcohol for healthy males in moderation it can be good even shamanic priests drink but knights are more shamanic because they are intimate with nature and space they are agents not philosophers
reply

30 year life expectancy was only when averaging in all the still borns / children who wouldnt make it past infancy. Once youmade it to 10, you had a good chance of living to 60-70
reply

No mention of Chain mail. or Surcoat. The surcoat covering over the armour so they did not bake in the sun, some did. The armour was heavy, yet you could move in it.
