I turned 18 and graduated high school in 1998, got in my first serious relationship, got my first job and first car, it was a great year for me. The biggest things I remember from 98' was Britney Spears first started to get known, The Spice girls, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore, A teens, N Sync, Backstreet boys, 98 degrees. let's face it the whole year was about the pop music. also the attitude era of WWE wrestling started and Stone cold became a big name.

I was 16 years old when Brittany's baby doll photo set in Rolling Stone came out. This was before we had the internet. I have a VERY distinst memory of driving 2-3 hours, going from store to store, trying to find that issue. I finally found a copy at my library. and to my infinite shame, I definitely ripped out those photos and took them home for closer research

1998 was the last year of the golden age. It was peacetime, the internet still wasnt fully matured, gas prices were cheap, the environment wasnt yet wrecked beyond repair, social media hadnt yet been thought of and ruined our culture, and you could accompany your family to the airport gate or meet them even if you didnt have a ticket.

I remember Phil Hartman's murder. I was at a lunch meeting for a new business I just launched when the news aired on TV. People were shocked since no one had no idea his wife had MAJOR mental issues. He was a VERY popular guy. Well liked.
