G. W. Bush was President when the recession happened. That's what happens when you have a Republican President for 8 years, just like when The Stock Market crashed in 1987, thanks Ronnie Reagan for that one. Republicans are known for being conservative, except when it comes to finances, they just love to liberally piss money away. Now it's 2024, American Republicans elected a man who loves the word tariff, but doesn't know the meaning of the word. People that complained about the inflation of consumer goods the last few years are just going to find out it won't get better with the newly elected President's economic plan. Let's Go, Felon.

Funny, each timeline has mentioned something about the Olympics except for in the year 2000's timeline where the Sydney Olympics wasn't mentioned whatsoever. It was only the second time Australia held the Olympics since Melbourne in 1956 & the second time an Olympics was held in the Southern Hemisphere. Maybe the Sydney games were only important to us Aussies & as someone who lives only an hour & a half away north of Sydney's CBD on the NSW Centy Coast i can tell u the the party atmosphere around the cities pubs & clubs were electrifying & buzzing with nightlife & the greatest fortnight that we've ever had.

Three things I remember about 2008. One: my classmate’s dad coached the U. S. Olympic ping pong team and actually brought back mini mascot stuffies for our entire class. Two: the recession eventually caused my dad to lose his job the next year in 09. Three: my dad took my sister and I to a Sarah Palin rally that was held in a local baseball stadium on a school day. I had absolutely no idea what was going on the entire time.

It’s crazy how none of this had to do with what was really going on in the underground scene kid world I swear I just lived some undocumented life somehow where all the culture ppl are infatuated with today came from but nobody knows how or why they’re into anything they’re obsessed with now! They think it’s all brand new when I assure u it was already done by 2008!

This was a very formative year for me, it was my eighth grade year of middle/high school & my first ever year of marching band! I would go on to march in college & my last year marching was 2018. It’s insane how fast 16 years just happens. 14 year old me would be very surprised how I turned out (which isn’t bad but not what I expected.

You left out Super Bowl 42 one of the greatest SB of all time because New York Giants as a wildcard team ended New England Patriots perfect season 17-14 and it was the first SB loss for Tom Brady. Plus they did it again in Super Bowl 46 four years later. Timeline must hate sports for some reason that's unforgettable to not include it

2008 was a year of a lot of teenage firsts for me. 14 years old. Fond year of my childhood. Great time JUST before smart phones and social media took over. Also as a football fan, my favorite Super Bowl of all time happened that year with the 8-8 Giants beating the 16-0 Patriots in probably the most unlikely Super Bowl win of all time.

in 2008 i met this woman. i spoke to her once in a while but we never grew close. the last time i saw her was 10 years ago. she left a hint that she liked me and i didnt act on it. she moved on and i had some really bad times followed by good times then again with bad. but im happy for her and glad she was around back then.

2007 was the year i started playin World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade and ever since then i never watched TV never seen any type of new movies all ways watched old 80s and 90s movies and TV shows on VHS or DvD and listen to heavy metal music on CDs or cassette tape. Soooo most of these i never never seen or heard of it.

OMG! Somehow, Don Bluth’s Anastasia is mentioned!
On the timeline 1986 and 1988, An American Tail and Land Before Land should have been mentioned, as they have been the highest grossing animated film back then, one after another. Bluth was the first true (short) rival to Disney’s dominance in the animation business.

It's so weird to see these videos about years that I remember but without nostalgia, like I just remember that year, I was in 6th grade, Obama got elected which was a great moment as another half-Kenyan, half-american myself, and of course Lewis won his first title, it was an interesting time.

For those of you who didn't watch the documentary (it's a time consumer but really amazing and totally worth it, the verdict for the 2008 OJ trial was 13 years to the day after he was acquitted of murder. They gave the verdict at 11pm local time just to make that happen.

Ah 2008. RIP George Carlin. I was a junior in high school, spending an hour every other day just goofing off as a teachers aide when said teacher had an off hour. I also remember getting GTA IV not long after it came out and spending almost an entire weekend solid playing it.

At least McCain took his defeat against Obama like a man and didn't cry that the election was stolen from him. He was the first presidential candidate that I voted for, cos I knew nothing about Obama at the time.
