In the late 19th century, nefarious groups ruled the streets of London, but one stood out: the Forty Elephants, London's all-female organization. Contemporaries of the real Peaky Blinders, these women were the best shoplifters in London, able to hide multiple fur coats in their skirts and bloomers; and their queen, Diamond Annie, ran the outfit with ruthless precision in the 1910s and '20s. Dressed in expensive furs and arriving by limousine, Diamond Annie walked into high-end department stores and swiped fortunes' worth of merchandise in under an hour

Forty Elephants? More like the Forty Kuntz. My Great Gma ran a hotel in Norther California. She would sometime have guests that would steal. These thieves only tried once. She hired several lady detectives. The would frisk unknown guests and if you were caught with someone else's belonging? Well? You ended up in the bay, for good. Yes this happened.

The boldest shoplifter I ever saw was at target. She was a young woman carrying a baby she put the baby in a stroller that was on display and then calmly strolled the stroller right out the door. Everyone was so shocked that no one tried to stop her.

I wonder how many thieves and other criminals of our time use your docs as a to-do guide for their nefarious actions, since most these methods probably arent well known nowadays or taught to law enforcement. Its just a thought, yall have a good day.

Women were able to sue/divorce their spouses with spousal abandonment, spousal abuse, and spousal neglect, but men were frowned apon pursuing the same charges. Women weren't oppressed, they needed to be oppressed.

Another member was madeleine Partridge. She was Alice Diamonds right hand woman. But she ended up doing a lot of bird. I know her granddaughter. They were also extremely violent hence the jail time.

Now I need BBC or HBO to do a series like Peaky Binders on these ladies. They could easily get six seasons worth of content just from the incidents covered in this video.

The Forty Elephants sounds like a rock bands name.
New Film series worthy.
Also, this will make an excellent Halloween Group theme costume.

I wouldve let the girl go with her lover. She had just as much to loose if she ever opened her mouth about the crimes so she was no threat.

The London Gangs (male and female) had similar nicknames to the Five Points Gangs of New York - often utilizing animal- based sobriquets

I lived in east London in the 1950's and had heard about the Elephant and Castle mob, but not about the women. Interesting thanks.

Now at least in America you just get a big bag and load it up with stuff and walk out: )
No need to be sneaky.
