If you want to know where the story of Arthur comes, search the Nubian languages of Sudan. They (the Nubians) conquered ancient Britain and established places such as Orkney, Tintagol, and Cornubia. Art'or or Art'uru literally means "God the King" in their languages. Arthur was their head deity (now called Arti in modern Nubian, and his "roundtable" were all secondary deities (i. e. "angels") that represented various constellations in the sky.
None of the characters were real people. They simply represented deities and/or constellations called upon by the people who ruled Britain before the Anglo-Saxon-Germanic-Norman invasions.

"The Sword & Stone" was the name of the restaurant in my home town's Holiday Inn. The restaurant & hotel lobby had an Arthurian theme including a large stone with a sword in it at the exterior front entrance -- trying to remove the sword was a way for kids to pass the time while waiting in line for Mother's Day brunch. I never thought much about it until this video, might be some nice winter reading.

We had that poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson, Morte D'Arthur, in school. He wrote many around myths and legends. In the poem Bedivere goes to the lake three times and twice has second thoughts about chucking it in. The dieing Arthur asks him what he's seen and every time he says the wrong things till on the third time the Lady of the Lake bags it and Arthur dies knowing Bedivere did the right thing. finally

To Brother Gil - Bro, I found the sword, like you told me. But there were two. One of 'em had a lame name, Something II. It was a dingy, old thing with flashy decorations, something you'd probably like. So I went with Excalipur. I'll be back after I find the Tin Armor.

See, the jokes and references by themselves are fine but it’s the delivery by our beloved classic narrator that sells the jokes so well. Who else could say Pics or it didn’t happen with such dryness.

3: 40 Today's job interviews are notorious for giving ridiculous answers that no one believes.
The title of the comedy album My Weakness Is Strong by Patton Oswalt sums that up well.

I remember in the Disney version, Merlin came back from the future wearing a pair of red Converse tennis shoes, which were very popular at the time when that animated movie came out.

I'm pretty sure the entire Arthur thing means that in a thousand years people are going to use the doge meme as evidence of the legendary duke of bonk

I’d love to believe that there was once a King Arthur who led the Brits to a period of Pax Romana. Always one of my favorite legends. Thank you!

Excaliber might not have had magical powers but the scabbard would keep you from dying if you wore it, even if you were at death's door.

They say Arthur will come back when England needs him most. I guess they could have really used him during the Battle of Britain.

That Guy Ritchie film was awful. Mostly bc of the actress that was so bad, they had to edit her out & it ruined the story.
