What if the US purchased Greenland in 1946?

What if the US purchased Greenland in 1946? gurgelurk: This video does not really follow up on the geopolitical outcome of an American Greenland.
In our timeline, Greenland has some US military presence. It has been limited by Danish politics and international conventions.
In this timeline, US can use Greenland for intelligence, recon flights, airlifts, and a nuclear deterrence force. Nerlerit Inaat is an airport on East Greenland, just 2, 500 km (1, 500 mi) to Leningrad. That is 2 hours' flight at Mach 1. Moscow would be 3, 200 km (2, 000 mi) away from a US airbase.
In this timeline, the United States are by the 1950s an existential threat against the Soviet Union, without need to deploy bombers or missiles in Canada, Iceland, or continental Europe.
The Soviet Union would desperately try to create a nuclear deterrence through Cuba and other pro-Soviet countries in the Western Hemisphere, and to deploy air and naval forces to the Arctic. They might even try to build a strategic missile defense.
This would be costly for the Soviet Union, which would have to scale down influence across Eurasia. The Soviet Union has to give up their status as a global superpower earlier than in our timeline.
In this timeline, the United States is less dependent on its allies, less threatened by the Soviet Union, and less dependent on foreign oil. By the 1980s, they rule the world.

American is not an ethnicity, it is a nationality, like Brazilian, Canadian, Mexican, Argentinian, Chilean, any group from the American's including the indigenous peoples come from Africa, Asia, or Europe genetically, the indigenous peoples are from Siberia genetically, another example would be British, which is a nationality, English, Scottish, and Welsh are ethnicities, an ethnic group is a group of people with a unique language and culture, American's genetically come from all over Africa, Asia, and Europe. Small but truth bearing correction. Also Hispanic technically means ethnically Spanish, from Spain, those speaking Latin descended languages are considered Latin American, although Belize and Guiana speak English, they are considered apart of the Latin American region geographically, another small but truth bearing correction.

i can tell all of you, even if america owned greenland, oil mining would not take place. the reason behind this is the same reason Denmark doesnt mine it. it will litterally cost more to build and maintain the equipment that the oil would bring in. simple as that. its also why the gold deposits are largely untouched, along with various other minerals in the underground. that, and it would be a shame to ruin the land (like the american military bases have done around them)

I feel like another way Greenland could 'kinda' become a state would be with a merger with another state. I 100% believe that that state would be Alaska, and that Greenland would be another part of it similar to how Michigan is divided into two pieces, but to more of an extreme. A similar situation could be how Guam either wants to become a state or be merged with Hawaii. But this is just my opinion so do want you will with it.

Your videos are always fascinating and I'm always grateful for them. Although it's a minor detail I cannot express how wonderful it is that you chose to post a picture of the globe (1: 04)rather than the other ridiculous Maps which always show Greenland to be about five times the size that it actually is. Your choice is straightforward simple yet ingenious because it's so uncommon in so rarely done. Thank you so much

I think you're wrong about statehood. Greenland as a territory would increase the likelihood of Puerto Rican statehood because the 2 territories would maintain the political balance. Conservatives would get Greenland. Liberals would get Puerto Rico. They would both get statehood, timed very closely together like the situation with Alaska and Hawaii.

If the United States annexes Greenland, it will be the end of the Kingdom of Denmark.
Remember that the kingdom is made up of three autonomous countries: Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
If that happens the Faroe Islands will also separate from Denmark and mark the end of an era.
Denmark would shrink to its initial size.

US would actually be more likely to make PR a state as a result - states have been historically added in pairs to balance the parties. PR and DC statehood are mainly opposed on the grounds of D advantage. They'd likely become states if there was a reasonable R state to add as well - Greenland would be that state.

i dont know why Denmark didnt sell Greenland'
Maybe because they only offered 1 billion dollars?
Greenland's resources are estimated to be around 3 trillion dollars and the ice is beginning to melt because of climate change so they will become more and more accessible
