iberia and the levant would definitely be the gateways north. while the mongols were able to adapt korean and chinese sailing methods they primarily stuck to the euro-asian continent. its doubtful saharan horse tribes would adapt phoenician or egyptian seafaring and directly threaten rome or greece. the additional mountainous terrains of these peninsulas also make horse based warfare less advantageous than it would be in the large spaces of africa, the middle east, or western europe. it would be interesting to see the trade routes/ religions/ and power struggles resulting from a powerful middle africa, especially towards the colonization of the americas

The main reason for the drying of the Sahara is the precession of the earth's tilt. The monsoon rains only penetrate the Sahara when it is close to maximum tilt and the summers are hotter. Without the drying of the Sahara Egyptian civilisation would probably not have happened, inhabitants were driven to the arduous task of building irrigation systems just to survive. Also a wetter Sahara impacts negatively on the fertility of the Amazon rain forest, as nowadays iron rich desert dust is blown there by the trade winds.

If the Sahara stayed wet South America wouldn't be as over grown with vegetation.
Strong winds, going in the opposite direction across the Sahara that you've shown here, bring large amounts of sand across the ocean and to South America, this sand fertalizes the rain forest and has caused it to become what it is today, this process is still happening so it's likely that if this wasn't happening South America would look similar, maybe even slightly greener, than the Sahara in your timeline

With a North Africa covered up in warlike nomadic tribes, the Phoenicians probably never would have been able to make landfall in North Africa. Africa probably would have been even darker than it was in our timeline, with Egypt being overrun at some point most likely. The Great Wall of Sinai would have allowed the Mesopotamians to contain the rampaging hoards to Africa. Just hope the Vikings sailed on by rather than stopping in and teaching them how to build boats.

a) Proceeds to not source any of them
b) He himself later says that he doesn't know too much about the sahelian kingdoms
c) Mansa Musa was rich enough to crash the economies of several regions for decades +
d) The region even today is still rich in gold
e) Mali was literally fabled for its rich gold sources.
And egypt expanding far south into nubia AND ethiopia? good joke.

The Sahara is not 9. 2 million square miles - it's 9. 2 million square kilometers (3. 6 million square miles. So no, it's not larger than the United States, nor Europe - those claims are based on the confusion of kilometers for miles.
It's an interesting concept for a video, but just make sure to think about these claims people make, and don't accept what people say just because they talk fast and use numbers.

Well I'm not really a Mansa Musa fanboy but the fact was that kingdoms like Mali and Ghana were extremely wealthy in gold (like the country with the most gold currently is actually ghana. While Mansa Musa probably wasn't the richest mean to exist per to say he most likely was Richer in funds then probably Alaxander, Genghis Khan and if not he still would be richer then most other leaders of other Civilisations.

Intriguing scenario and intriguing replies. But this is over thought. Europe would still be in the grasps of the ice age and the bulk of civilization wouldn't exist, at least western and Arab civilizations. The neolithic and the fertile cresent were direct result of the ending of the Ice Age. The bulk of Africa and Middle East would remain hunter gatherers as well as habital zones of Europe.
