What if Britain made Peace with the Nazis in World War 2? James: Don't really agree, Britain has always tried to keep balance of power in Europe. I don't think they would join a war against the soviets until victory is guaranteed and try to make the Soviets and the Nazis destroy each other. Also the Americans would most likely retreat back into itself after beating japan, not really being a major global player. Most likely Britain would create a nuclear bomb first or it would be a combined German Uk effort, however i think this is unlikely as Britian would not trust Hitler with such a bomb. The British empire would probably come out of this scenario as the worlds number one power, the pound still being the global currency and the british being the only ones with nuclear bombs. Probably eventually the empire would federate into a super state, leaving three major world powers, Germany dominating mainland europe, USA having massive influence in the americas and the Imperial federation controlling Africa and Asia.

So most of f Asia ends up speaking pidgin American and, by the mid-6Os, watching American matinees on TV.
Europe is gradually Germanized, - as in having local populations literally replaced by Germans.
With no incentive for Britain to decolonise, the successors of Subhas Chandra Bose turn to the USSR. After a massive communist insurgency, India emerges (in this timeline) as the leading Asian communist country, supporting communist insurgencies across S. E. Asia.
With a world dominated by Whites, White nationalism gains ground in the US, with eventual rapprochement with Nazi Europe. In this timeline, communism therefore becomes synonymous with the struggle for identity liberation for the non-Western world.
Not bad. Not bad at all

A different question for a different video, but. was it really wise for Britain and France to declare war on Germany in 1939? Lets think about it. Did they EVER have a realistic plan to help Poland? Hell no. They did little more than drop leaflets for the first 6 months.
Was it realistic to think a naval blockade would bring Germany to its knees? Nope. Hitler was getting everything he needed in the way of raw materials courtesy of Stalin. So is it smart to begin a war that you have no plans to win?
The general public view of history seems to be that well war was coming anyway, so it might as well be in 1939.
But the catastrophic collapse of the Western allies in 1940 makes that logic questionable.

Always fun to create different scenario's. If Britain were able to agree to peace with Germany, its options wold have been wide. The Empire could have been managed, and Britain could have aided America protecting its colonies against Japan. Allied with America in the Pacific, by default, German issues could be tolerated and its secrets minimized. Britain's economy could be humming away, with oil control a logical concern. They would have superpower status all along if they could tolerate the Germans. I enjoyed the video.

You call it a grim timeline, but there's no Cold War, no communists anywhere but Siberia. Sure, Nazi Germany exists for longer, but Hitler was a retarded megalomaniac and would probably have invaded someone he shouldn't have invaded like in our timeline, gotten assassinated, or died from an aneurysm or something, I don't see the Nazi regime lasting much longer than Hitler, even without the Red Army raping, torturing, and crucifying their way to Berlin.

Here's a scenario: Since they'd be co-belligerents against Japan the US could come to the aid of what's left of the USSR when it's attacked by Japan. War makes for strange befellow, as Shakespeare wrote in The Tempest.
The USSR rump state in Siberia allies with US, which would institute an equivalent of the Marshall Plan for the Soviets at war's end. The USSR would relocate its government to Novosibirsk and then to Vladivostok.

Assuming the Nazis never made an atomic bomb, they would have ultimately been defeated by the Soviet Union after a long and brutal struggle. Britain and the USA probably would have accepted Soviet domination over Germany like they did with Eastern Europe after WWII. There probably would not have been the will in Britain and the US for a major war with the Soviets.

I find it intresting that the history of the A-Bomb would have been massivly different from this. Since research began in England in a responce to Germanys nulcear program. The british program was then moved to america because. well they weren't broke.
It does make an intresting question of what would the history of the A-Bomb become in this alternative universe

reply

Wouldn't the Soviets have been more ready for the Germans if Britain was out of the war?
Stalin thought the British were trapping him.
Also Hitler was really ill in 1945, he was probably going to die naturally anyway. I could go on, but I think you've made to many mistakes.

Scary to think that an intact Nazi Germany with an allied UK would eventually have access to nukes in that timeline. With how crazy Nazi leaders can get, a nuclear war between US and Nazi Germany would more likely happen and itd happen sooner within a few decades down the road.
