An alternate scenario on this called Failing Dreams
Guy wakes up in the computer, and is being notified that the system only has less than 1 hour power left.
He then checks if the computer has an automatons under it's control, to try and get it more power.
A light manipulator drone is sent out for things like laptop and phone batteries, car batteries, home power storages,
etc, and just in the nick of time he keeps on finding stuff to power the computer and it's drone
just a littel while longer, as he tries to come up with a plan to use another drone to try and salvage
a solar panel for some more power income.
From here on in, you can either have it go downwards, failing or upwards, succeeding into getting
more power to live off.
If he succeeds, he can try and get more tech back up and running, and finding out what happened while he was
in storage, and why the world has ended, possibly finding other people in storage as well.
From there he then either finds no others or he does, and on from there.

IVY NOT CONRAD-. I am pretty sure that this life is a prison sentence. maybe I got life times on earth. as a fragile, frail, human who is just a sim somehow with my conscience being suspended on another planet somewhere learning lifes many lesson until I truly just want to help my fellow man and the moon would be the guards like prison guards station ship thing. activateing planets by creating the perfect circumstances for life to exist on a otherwise useless planet like earth becomes teaming with life due to the moons position in between it and the sun and all that by positioning and mathematics to use as a prison instead of building sand cell to house the bad immortal creatures that can't die go when they are bad or something

Futurists say this is pretty much how humanity will end up if it wants to survive until the end of the universe. Our intelligence digitized and running in simulations on computers orbiting power sources like stars, or black holes when all the stars are gone. Armies of self replicating robots maintaining the hardware over all those trillions and trillions of years.

Perhaps I’m missing something, but there seems to be a contradiction in this story. Early on, the AI tells Ava that she is to be resurrected into a new body in ten minutes, but as the story evolves we learn that humanity has destroyed the world and that Ava’s own existence is about to end.

Am I the only one who finds this quiet, and hard to hear I suppose it's possible this is some sort of audio problem on my end (or I'm losing hearing, but other stuff does seem louder. Help This is interesting, and I can mostly follow, but it would be nice if it was louder.

DRAM and hard drives in the future More likely, the computers memory would be non volatile, so after the cockroaches restored power, the AI version of Ava would come back to life with a brief sojourn of several million years elapsed time. And more bacon dark chocolate.

Great story. I suppose the computer had some autonomy, so when it realized there were no supervisors it was free to express her mean/sarcastic streak. Which makes we wonder if her last comment was programming or a bit of humorous sarcasm; the final digital chuckle.

The crazy thing is. this likely will happen in the future. Maybe not in the same way but someone's consciousness will be uploaded as something goes wrong. Good luck to you, future human. Good luck to you. (Great film. 11/10)

She must have been dead for quite a while before she got Uploaded or she would have known about the nuclear Apocalypse. Kind of a plot hole here, or, but otherwise pretty good job
reply

Wow. Just. wow. I'm in love with all of this. From beginning to end everything was full of surprises that really hit home with how realistic the entire story is (or could be. Amazing!
reply

That was pretty amazing. I’ll be honest the ending was very touching. Have to love the computer. Was thinking she’s a nicer version of GLaDOS from Portal

This is deep, I dig it a reminder to take life very very seriously we're only here to experience this planet and then we move on to the next the afterlife
reply

Is there seriously no one that heard, well i got you’’ meaning there was no end of the world and she was just getting back at her for the insult
reply

And the moral of this wonderful futuristic tale is, sometimes the grass on the other side is made out of pixels. be happy with what you have.
reply

Too true, the end is near, a silent war, but nukes are on the cards.
Our recorded lives may continue after. on any surviving hard drives.

I LOVED this the first time I saw it. Love it even MORE now that it's shown up at DUST. Can't wait to see more from Addison Heimann.

Plot twist. .Obama's brain initiative program had also did a deal with Elon Musk, he had placed back up servers on other planets.
reply

I have to. applaud the actress who makes her conversation with the system become soooo interesting.
No question but pure admiration

reply

Your story is also a well made reminder to everyone to live each day as if it were your last. I look forward to your future work.
reply

You know an American wrote the script, because Iran launched nuclear weapons but Israel didn't.
And North Korea started it.

I was going to invent bacon flavoured chocolate, and all profits go to starving children in africa.

Because of a certain movie-franchise, this obviously couldn't be titled; 'You Only Die Twice'!
reply

Intuitively really good. Really accurate end of the world scenario. Soon, I'm afraid.
