Sci-Fi Short Film: Beam - DUST

Freezing time or time travel movies fall into that often if they arent careful with the writing. Main character faces a problem, but the problem continues for the sake of keeping the plot going or for the sake of creating suspense when they could easily freeze time to gain and just casually walk away from danger or go back in time and start over.
The second thing, she possesses that kind of technology, in dire need of money, and she cant come up with a better way than what shes doing to get money. Cant help but think of things like she could go on Shark Tank and make and be set for life with a simple demonstration.
It was enjoyable to watch. Its just that it needed some extra things to be established with the dialogue or the plot that would allow you to accept the easy fixes that the character didnt take advantage of. I can make my own assumptions to them, such as maybe she had just created this backpack transporter. Which would bring up a conflict on being able to create it in her bedroom while being so strapped for money.
Or something like a conflict with believing that the dissemination of technology like that has a dangerous side for what it could be used for that she has to weigh against doing that so that she could help her mother.

Its moral was somewhat dubious but certainly thought provoking. The end of it was a bit moving and epic. Yes, it was about the market model of the American health care, basically. As one of the commenters have already pointed out. (And also about the market model of the university system, I guess) The script was excellent and the movie really tense and entertaining. A good example of how an interesting story can be told within a small time frame. And even the budget could be low, I guess.
The only problem with the plot was the open question of how and from where she got that cutting edge future technology and why the bank guards did not know it or were not prepared against it with some similarly advanced counter measures.

The problem with Personal Transportation Devices (PTD)s is how does the PTD know which molecules to transport. Say you are in a chair, in a car/bus/house and you activate the PTD what molecules are transported It would only take a small error to mix up a part of the cup holder with a part of your brain, or gonads, and you would end up having a bad day.
Personally I love this movie, and others like it, but the impracticality of PTDs bugs me every time. I so wish it could be true though.
I hope she survives/thrives in her new world.

Everybody wants more of this film. Well that is understandable but I can't see why it just can't end the way that it does. I mean it seems to me that it has said all that it really needs to say. Nonetheless I see how others need all of the loose ends tied up and all the questions answered -- where did she get the devise, will she get home or to civilization, will she recover from her wound or arrested, blah, blah, blah. None of those things need to be resolved. It ends here. End of story.

I don’t know how this girl made this device because her family is poor. A device this complicated must cost hundreds of thousands if not millions to make a prototype. It would be more believable if she stole it from a high tech company where she worked.

Really really liked this video.
I'm 69 and grew up on the old sci-fi stories and books.
This brought back a little of that back. Good writing and good acting.
The camera work was very good also. Well done.

When you get a teleportation device to make your get away. But after the heist the damn thing starts malfunctioning so it only teleports you a few feet. If she survives that gun shot wound she should get a refund. :P

In Europe we dont have this silly problem, you dont need to pay if you are sick or need a surgery or a cancer treatment. Its so crazy that a nation like USA still has this issue!
