I'm sorry, I read the comments here and I see a lot of praise and complimenting but I can't help but feel like this particular short movie was kind of. pointless. They end with 'Trust yourself' Well, yea, no shit you should trust yourself. I mean, I get the point. Don't be preoccupied with all the things that could go wrong lest you miss all the things that go right along the way, but she basically just looped around to just being herself again. If the call hadn't arrived at all, she would have led the exact same life, with all the possible good and bad outcomes that are just part of life.
It just feels like a really roundabout way of saying: Be true to yourself and trust your instincts, with some fancy timetravel nonsense involved. I love sci-fi, but this one didn't do it for me. Felt like the movie was about to take you on a journey, but all they did was take you around the block and then just drops you back off on your own front porch. Great. Thanks for a ride that lead to nowhere, I guess. A lot of people seem to love it, though, so maybe I'm wrong here. Or just a minority vote, but that's how I think about it. I guess this one just wasn't for me.

All through this film I was yelling at the screen, NO! YOU have to go for it SOME time. Then I started thinking about what would I do if my future self called to tell me to avoid certain actions. Then I started thinking about my life and how it would be different if I had listened to that advice. Then I decided that, despite all my mistakes, there is very little that I would change about my life. Yes, I am permanently disabled thanks to a fight in 1984. Yes, I need to take a dozen pills a day to regulate bodily functions that can't do it themselves anymore due to really poor choices when I was in my twenties. Yes, I don't live in the place I always thought I would as a young man dreaming about his future. Despite all that, there are aspects of my life that I wouldn't change for ANYTHING. My wife. My daughters. My granddaughters. My sons-in-law. The view out my front window that I never dreamed of, yet is more beautiful than anything I could have imagined in the past. After all that thinking, I came to LOVE the ending of this film.

Sometimes though, your intuition is right, and the only thing keeping you from disaster. Reminds me of a time many years ago when an incredibly beautiful woman walked into my apartment by accident. This kind of thing never, ever happens, right But we got to talking and really hit it off really, really well. But I could tell after talking to her that her situation was a little off. I’m not going to go into full details, but I could see a scenario where it could get dangerous for me, but that could’ve been my imagination, too. So when she knocked on my door later that night, I had locked it that time, I just acted like I wasn’t home and then never, ever seen her again. She just vanished after that. Probably for the best, but who knows

I understand that this is a metaphor for overthinking, but it wasn't very convincing, because it's a sci-fi, and those are calls from the future, so I would expect that those horrible things that happen will happen certainly, and not just probably. In the middle of the short I started wondering if those calls from the future are real, because no one can be as unlucky as was portrayed there. Not everyone is dumped, or kidnapped, or arrested. Then I had this ahaa moment, that this was just a metaphor, and suddenly I was left disappointed at this cliche twist.

The proctective part of myself that is so scared because of past experiences, that I hold myself back from just living life and having fun sometimes.

Those running the apps and websites should do more to limit the time spent on them. including the phone itself. Oh wait, that would mean they cared about the user over profit. Silly me.

In other words, Go to the 7-11 and buy a lottery ticket with these numbers. or, invest in this, or, Study this, because it's the coming trend that businesses will want in a skill-set.

If you try to plan out your life beforehand, you can't account for every single circumstance. Life is far too complicated for a human mind to make the perfect decision at every juncture, so the best bet is to LIVE, and not worry about the potential outcomes of every single decision you make.

YES! I am screening all DUST movies in chronological order and so far this is the BEST since a long time (What if Wendy is maybe better IMO. Excellent idea (fantasy, not sci-fi, but who cares, excellent metaphor (yes, it is, excellent actress, timing and rythm. Wow.

Many years ago I saw a film called Mr. Holland's Opus. since then, I have referred it to others with this statement. It is about what happens in life, while waiting for life to happen. The same can be said of this beautiful short. Great job!
