Fleeing from a catastrophic accident aboard the International Space Station, a lone Cosmonaut faces a haunting spectre from his country's past. But is it all just in his mind LAIKA by Adam Fair Connect with the Filmmakers: More About LAIKA: In 1958, Laika became the first animal launched into space. Witnessed by a young boy with dreams of following in her footsteps. she never returned. Decades later something has gone terribly wrong on the International Space Station and now, Russian Cosmonaut Oleg Kotov, struggles to regain control of his tumbling escape pod. Houston has picked him up on radar and Ground Control endeavours to bring him into a stable orbit. However, it soon becomes clear they are dealing with more than just a broken spacecraft, but a broken pilot too. Unresponsive to basic commands, a confession of dead crewmates and the belief he is being followed, Oleg slowly loses his mind to fear. An increasingly exasperated mission controller decides to take matters into her own hands and bring Oleg back down to Earth, but this only confirms Olegs’ worst fears. A mysterious, antiquated looking craft docks with Olegs’ returning with it a nation's sacrificial lamb. LAIKA

as Laika steps upon the soil, it realizes the problem of bone loss. would liked to have it comes through the hatch and mentally says, I've found new friends, they have taught me the meaning of life and death then kills the guy with its mind, as it steps out of the ship its bone loss takes over and its last thought is oh shit

A couple years ago, I released an electronic music track called, Space Doggo. It was inspired by Laika. Then, I released Space Doggo Lives since I wanted to create an alternate story where Doggo lives but has an important message that will save mankind and its future. Thank you so much for making this short film.

Why you offend the memory of Laika You could tell the true story of Laika, about her sacrifice for Humanity. It is a big sorrow for all of us. And you decided to turn her into a monster. It is offensive! This is the first movie from DUST I send dislike. Maybe there are many other offensive movies

Closes of the man and child do not match to USSR's. It was pure country, such western things could have hundreds out of millions. So if you wanted to show average citizens closes had to be different. People were gray and the same.

Laika gets her own back. Cool. Always hurts to think of her cooking to death up there. She was apparently dead in a much shorter time than was officially admitted to, within hours of achieving orbit.

Even in the most chaotic situations, mission control would never scream or even show emotion over communications. Even astronauts wouldn't. They're a different breed.

I love dogs. The idea of her dying alone out there makes me sad.
I loved the idea of Laika making it back.
Wish I could greet her and offer her some biscuits.

Laika returns the earth and haunts every single remaining Former Soviet rocket scientists that were involved in the Sputnik 2 mission.

So. what exactly happened to Laika What had become of the ISS crew I know you're aiming for guess work but I think too much of that in this.

Moral of the story: Use less intelligent dogs for suicide missions.
Seriously, Laika deserves this tribute.

What a fantastic movie! The VFX are stunning and the story is great in what it's telling and what it's implying.

I never thought there was a point in sending leika up. What was the point Abuse of power, even then

Great, it follows the first rule of sci-fi movie: don’t obey the physics of orbital mechanics!

I wonder what would happen if all of Mankind's in humanities were brought to bear on us

Did anybody understand that the boy seen at the beginning is the Astronaut that meets Laika
reply

Very understandable that after being up there that long, she'd certainly be very hungry!

I’m going to have a film on DUST in the next 18 months. Working on the script now.

The way this film begins reminds of another DUST film, Flotando. Is there any connection

Great job. The only criticism I have is that that is not what Sputnik 2 looked like.
