Watch the DUST channel for our complete sci-fi library, feature films, and more Here is my take on the story. At the end, we see this took place on a lunar station. So I think this was a dream, the whole thing. The main guy is asleep, dreaming all this, and he HATES it there, really hates it. He wants to be on earth, in nature. In his dream he is surrounded the green and life and beauty of earth. He enters the facility, and sees himself, and others, on a monitor, sleeping (so WE see he is actually sleeping. He finds the girl, subdued and tortured, another victim of this horrible place. Then he, too, is subdued and tortured. He kills the scientist and heads back out to nature. He is rebelling in his sleep and dreams. The moon is a nightmare place to be, says the director, Ian Sbf.

This is my take (SPOILER ahead):
Just because we see the moon base at the end it doesn't mean the action is taking place there. We also see the Earth in the background.
I believe this is some type of time travel story where humans, probably from 50's or 60's by the look of those TV's and the rest of the tech, manage to build a base on the Moon and get back in time to explore the Earth when primitive people were still around.
The whole action does happen on Earth but the last shot is to show us where the actual operation center is, i. e. on the Moon.
Just my two cents. Awesome movie. Left me wanting for more.

This is a brilliant piece of work! As with every endeavor, there will be details you overlooked and when it’s finished you’re kicking yourself about those issues. But it’s past the point of repair; you can’t re-film those scenes, so you just have to accept it. I think viewers should bear that in mind, instead of criticizing the producer/director for mistakes they already know they made. I don’t think you’re pointing out anything they’re not already aware of.

Meh. I like it in some ways, but.
But: he can use a keyboard, he does not seem that surprised by the automatic lights, he can open a hatch, he can remove a drilling machin out of his leg without excessive pain (what about the artery btw, he knows how to unlock a leather belt and going up and down a ladder in a tunnel seems obvious.
Otherwise it's rather good. : )

I like shorts, but they have to conclude ffs. the few that have been good are very well done, but I'm not into this Oh see! and then credits crap.
shame, put more into the story, these are comic book things. might work for most, but sadly, not me.

Literally nobody else till now recognised the whistling and sound code used to enter into the bunker is strikingly similar to the alien tones from the famous movie Encounters of the Third Kind No one

His evolution into homo sapien is interesting. Tool making, art, walking upright, mastery of fire, curiosity, intelligence, translating the button tones as music in whistling.

Let me guess. This is prehistoric era when humanity of another world, used moon as a base camp to breed and experiment humans on earth and watch their behavior Damn.

If more care was put into their appearance and more into details of unlikely behaviors it would be a really sweet short. Good work none the less. Cool story idea.
reply

Well, not too shabby for a short; often I can’t even finish a sci fi short. A preposterous story but done well. And a good advocation for modern manscaping

I don’t know what the psycho was doing, but I’m guessing cave guy and the girl are children or children’s children of dead astronauts/colonists.
reply

Frustrating because we don't know the who, what, or whys. Also the moon is 1/6 grav and his physiology and movements don't reflect it.
reply

I like imagining the stories and myths that they would create after they gain knowledge of 'the edge of the world', i. e, the moon surface.

I myself love the little snips of other possibilities - the fragments are much more compelling than a whole boring tidy tale of everyday puke.

The story has potential but I think it needs a remake that's longer. I left feeling unfulfilled.
