Came here to support Bella, and get away from the absolute filth that is the comment sections of nearly every other forum on the internet when it comes to her involvement with the Last of Us’ series.
The comments about her appearance are horrific and just go to show how superficial this world and humanity are.
I literally just had to stomach someone justifying the vitriol and backlash by saying that it’s more fitting to the story if ellie is doe-eyed & good looking because that’s why people gravitated toward her and protected her and that in real life it’s the same thing, ugly people are ignored or displaced.
And you know, the latter half is true, horribly true, but why would you perpetuate and rationalize it
We should be fighting for more representation of all kinds, and to stop the superficiality both on screen and off, it’s literally killing people.
It’s no wonder this kid developed an eating disorder and had to stop another project for their mental well-being when I see how people devalue her (and others) for immutable characteristics out of her control, they even conflate her appearance with her personality and the ability to express herself facially and act.
So I guess she’s just not a human being to them deserving of showing emotion
It’s just despicable.
I know it seems awful to even bring this stuff up, as if I’m only adding to the problem and unsolicited, but I’m just beside myself and I think the reason why lookism’ (not a better term that I know of) runs rampant is because we are always brushing it under the rug and finding excuses to not talk about it and criticize its damning affects on those who suffer on the less fortunate side of the spectrum.
And it’s not just because she is a child, no adult or anybody else should be getting this type of mistreatment. It’s bad enough the covert ways humans treat one person versus another over their inherent looks, so the blatant bullying is just over the top and unnecessarily cruel.
If this poor girl looked the part to these sshats, they wouldn’t already be preemptively picking apart every other aspect of her being the way they currently are.

This one was probably inspired by Elon musk. Ha ha. Artificial general intelligence has turned on man and the last resort is a global EMP poles to knock out all technological intelligence. To all those who are asking for a continuation or a sequel, there’s really not much more to tell. The world has been sent back to the Stone Age on purpose. That’s the point. There’s nothing after that, that this story can tell. Ut’s a cautionary tale not meant to be expounded further upon as a story. Sure you could write a story about that girl growing up in the Stone Age world or finding out that not all the robots have been destroyed etc. etc. but that was not the point of the short story. It made the point and it’s over.

Excellent excellent film. That actor is just amazing. She's brilliant. Some people in the comments are saying they'd like to see more, or like to see the full story. Personally, I think the film is perfect as it is. Films and literature are best when they're not didactic. And the ambiguities in this short gem are what help make it arty. And more universal. How many times have I felt like that little girl, lost, alone, terrified; yet determined to move on, despite the uncertain future. That's part of the human condition. Any more details than were provided would have cheapened the message, in my humble opinion.

The end makes me think war of the worlds and the invaders, which look like machines based on the metal fingers sticking out the ground, fell to something. Our EMP to stop them Given they are partially buried looks like whatever took them down happened a long time ago. But then why wouldnt you be able to leave the house Would like to see just a bit more to try and figure out what happened. I know less is more and all, but I'm comfortable saying providing a little more context wouldnt take away from the possibilities.
reply

Ok. So I interpreted this as giant robots attacked earth and the only way to stop them was to set off EMPs all over the world. Her fathers pacemaker was destroyed but so was all earthly technology. So it's dark times for humanity, hence the guy starving and the giant metal corpses of the invaders left strewn across the landscape.

Yeah, still think she is miscast in the Last of us. Looks morose and slow, whereas should’ve looked quick witted and smart. A bit more beauty would not have hurt either. I guess we live in the world where you cannot put people into beautiful and not-so-much categories, but beauty is a biological construct, not social.

Just goes to show there’s a PLACE for maturity and growing into the rules of day-to-day survival. No one. who REALLY thought this out. would leave with ALL the preparations he’d made FOR HER (and she leaves the door WIDE open. She wants adventure’. AND WILL SOON FIND IT

I discovered this because Bella is going to be at The Last Of Us live-action movie and wanted to know what else did she appeared. This was a really good short film that it should have been nominated for an award.

This was well-done in all regards except the dialog, which was recorded at too low a volume level. Turning it up enough to hear the dialog clearly made everything else ear-splittingly loud.

I used to know player called Zero on test drive unlimited gen one xbox 360 she was a great driver. But she used to follow me on the Ninja 1200 great bikes but it depends on the rider.
reply

So where is she going lol. So EMP and Giant Robots and all that, but she had enough seed to grow new food. She got bored really. Is that the story, if you are bored then go outside
reply

She's such a talented kid, she's 19 now but she started acting since she was a little girl, glad she gets to lead her own show now and it's a smash hit, The Last of Us!
reply

The ending was mushy. Not the very ending as she left, but rather the reason for the leaving. It lacked a certain definitional quality on the part of the protagonist.

(Isa)Bella May Ramsey is definitively the most beautiful and talented actress in the world! I love you Isabella May Ramsey! I love you so much! =)

I watched two dust duds. Then I watch ZERO which was awesome. This is what it's all about, especially when you see the count down timer on the TV.
reply

I would not want to survive alone in a house despite the dangers trusting someone and letting them in, what is the point of survival then
reply

Loved it.
I'm usually happy with short films being just that but not this time. Where's the rest of Alice's story I demand answers!

reply

In fact 2 sequels to this, one of past, 10 yrs--when big machines hand was active And future, 10 hours. after she left the house
reply

I would really love to watch a long film on this. It is just so interesting and I think everyone else would enjoy watching it.
reply

TV screen with EMP is weird
Either it would be unnecessary or unavailable
Like a test pattern saying NO POWER

Nice short, but what was going on before the EMP Why it was needed These are nice to have questions after a terrific clip!
