This is a good story. Fun to watch and think about. However.
It took 3 minutes to travel to Mars from Earth. That's a distance of 225, 000, 000 km (140, 000, 000 miles. The FTL drive goes almost exactly the speed of light. The malfunctioning machine sped him along for 50 seconds at the same speed. This means he travelled only another 15, 000, 000 km.
I hate to be that guy, but he couldn't have gone much further than the orbit of Mars even if it was in a different vector.

I like this ending because any advanced civilization would understand a sentient lifeform's need to return home in a distress situation. I'm honestly surprised they didn't return the ship as well. In fact I thought at first that he would have the ship's design schematics. Clearly they had the ability to convert matter into energy and back again, so a ship as primitive as ours should be a simple fix so we can take the logs and learn from the mistakes we made.

Granted I have my doubts that we will ever meet up with any sentient alien life we would have been much further along in space exploration if we didn't drop the ball after Apollo. It would have been nice to at least had manned missions to Mars by now. Elon Musk said we would and in the meantime he can't even get a Starship into orbit without catastrophic failure.

What happened after this first contact is clearly shown in the 2019-20 sci-fi web series Another Life. Those shapeless aliens coming out from wormhole are nothing but an advanced shapeless AI alien race named Achian. They tried to capture Earth and make humans their slave. But Nikko & her Salvare crue defeated them.

Getting FTL space travel was a great accomplishment, but apparently they already have FTL communications and (likely) therefore observation capabilities. It takes a bit of time for radio signals to reach mars and back.
I scrolled down to comment and got spoilers about the aliens

For a low budget, editing was perfectjust enough for wonder not too long for corny. for me, yeah this story could be expanded into a full blown moviekeeping the state of tense while as quiet as suggested by deep space vastness

a journey that will take just over three minutes
of course, three minutes for him won't be three minutes for them
and radio comms between Earth & Mars even at closest distance has considerable lag

there is no physics it is all irrelevant what we see hear feel are energy levels that coalesce into something we think is substantial evidence but in the end there is nothing

It's well-written, well-acted, and well-rendered, but. man, cribbed or even derivative would be generous. It's sad to have this much talent but lack the integrity to cite your sources.

Please explain to me how they can go faster than light speed and then come to a complete stop. You would turn in a soft jello like substance with bones in it.

the alien tech was like the real world equivalent of a computer mouse, pointing and modifying whatever math of the universe it needed to.

Well,
The communication between spacecraft and earth takes a while to x the distance to Mars, not just 1 second!

I still say they can do more With lectromagnets. I don't think you need liquid to have propulsion In space.
