Bumbleness
Stealing something worth 1.4k is still stealing something worth 1.4k.
It's not the courts job to say 'well we don't agree it should be that price' when the victim and defendant both agreed it would be sold between them for 1.4k.
This would be akin to me stealing a priceless painting that in all honesty has no real value outside of what people tell me it's worth and then try to argue 'it shouldn't be worth 14 million dollars.' Doesn't quite work that way.

So these companies can charge insane rates putting gambling mechanics for children and have systems in the game to keep kids and adults addicted to playing the game f------ up the reward centers of the brain. But we draw the line at overpriced digital goods that are significantly cheaper being sold to you by a hacker because that's wrong everything else I described is wonderful beautiful capitalism

I have no issue with cheaters getting arrested. They ruin a game we paid for and are essentially devaluing the game we paid for as a result. BF5 for example. I used to play it a crap ton-. And the it was absolutely overrun with hackers to the point that I saw no point or value in playing. Now now I had a game I could not enjoy because of them and essentially, wasted money.

Stick to games. Thinking it is the digital economy only that could make a collectable knife worth 1400 dollars shows you dont know what you are talking about and you should stick to digital worlds. There were knives in the 80's worth more than that genius! Lol

I am okay with hacking a public multiplayer game being treated as a crime. I have seen a lot of game companies lose money and entire games be shut down because cheating was so out of hand. Hacking in general is and should be a crime, it is not okay.

They aren't arresting people because cheating makes the game experience bad.. They are arresting people because that bad game experience has negative consequences to the profitability of the game.

Sooooo if I don't feel sorry for neither the victims nor the perpetrators, does it mean I'm a sociopath? (I mean, aside from the ppl who got swatted and the fella who died which sucks major balls).

Nah, arrest them. A ban doesn't do anything to someone who profits $140,000 cheating likely does so as their full time job. They'll just reallocate funds to create/buy a new account and keep rolling.

Cheaters should go to prison. They cause legit players to leave and go elsewhere, costing the company money and reputation. It functions like corporate sabotage with multiple victims.
