The most exciting thing (for me) about UE5 is it's going to give indi devs the ability to make triple A looking games. The indi scene is still banging along and the thought they will be able to make those games look like this? This might spell the end of the 'big corp' era of endless sequels and finally games will return to the creative, artistic and ground breaking days of yesteryear. Not to mention the effect this is going to have on movies and tv shows. At the moment I can't help but feel UE5 (and the new Unity - don't forget the Unity demo) are going to do what Quake did to Doom - maybe not graphically (although very close? But artistically I think movies, tv shows and games are going to explode with creativity! And that's what UE5 and the new Unity engine mean to me. That's where the excitement's at.

3: 00 A WOW that looks like that I would ABSOLUTELY PLAY. I have very little interest in cell shaded cartoony games like how WOW is now. Just not my taste. Then again, subscriptions. eek
I think the cost of PC hardware is going to basically stomp most of this stuff out.
Things will be based on what the XBSX and PS5 can do since those are things people might actually be able to afford.
They have a fixed MSRP so presumably won't be hit by the %30 price hike coming to PC hardware VERY SOON! (and likely more down the road.
This is during a period of insane record corporate profits! They claim they are loosing money. World Of Lies!

The only problem with Photorealism. It ain't REAL! The only problem with Hyperrealism? It too ain't REAL! waht these videos show is that we can have scenes and scenarios that LOOK REAL, and so don't require cartoony looks. Everything you have shown today is AWESOME! But (you KNEW there was one) it also shows a bar that's raised so high, there is no excuse for anything less, when games are made to this standard and within these formats. Now if ONLY we could have Story, Lore that matched the ambition on display

im a little scared that with this tool, games are going to aim to look realistic much more often, and that might lower the amount of stylized games we get. i can agree that realistic games are very cool, but i dont want to loose all the games that look cool because of their unique looks that stand out. For comparison, paintings that look exactly like real life are cool as they show the skill an artist has, but it takes much more skill to do a unique painting with a particular style that can stand out

Every single generation people get so amped for these worthless tech demos, meanwhile there might be four games across an entire generation that even come close to pushing out that level of potential. While every single year the AAA gaming industry gets worse and worse, focusing entirely on monetization instead of making good products. If it's not From Soft, Sony or Nintendo making it you can rest assured the game sucks.

Every year is going to advance the tech that supports intuitive design and workflow. GPUs, CPUs, storage and bus speeds keep get increasingly faster and fuller-featured. It's just going to keep getting better to the point where realistic worlds will be created procedurally in real time. and eventually - humans will leave the uncanny valley.

They say every new tech advancement in graphics people wonder how can it get any better? but then you see that train station recreation, and I am still not convinced (even with you telling us) that it's not actually a real-world video. I'm not sure how much better it's going to be able to get.

Great video, Jake. When I was looking at Superman flying between the building super fast. I was thinking when he do zip really fast that the glass on the left and right will shatter. Man that would be so damn cool! Can t wait to see Unreal Engine 5 on our favorite games!

You know whats funny? I clicked on the train station video last week, and then closed it after a second or two because i thought it was a joke about how unreal 5 will look like reallife. Wow.
Also i dismissed it fast because the camera movement was too life-like xd
