I have always maintained that past a certain point, texture quality no longer matters. Poly count and lighting can sell normally terrible textures better than any other developer trick. Giving Kingdom Come and Witcher 3 a gentle nudge with lighting and screen effects really makes those games shine. But when it comes to Skyrim or Fallout 4, I personally scale every texture in the game to 2k, only using texture mods to add color and more realistic designs, but I will go ham on dramatically increasing the poly count and throwing a crazy enb over it. The games look jaw dropping even with 2k textures, and I am still able to maintain a constant 60fps, only dropping to around 55 in very high load environments. I even apply this logic in games that I develop. The game I am working on now is sprite-based, and despite my being happy with the overall design, I have placed a lot of my dev time into perfecting the dynamic lighting. Every little detail in the game pops so much better than if I was to simply stick to upscaling the sprites as much as possible.

Last year I was having a problem with vortex so I reached out to nexus support. They were very arrogant with their response stating that I was being ridiculous. They offered me no support at all. Not even any troubleshooting suggestions. So I went to several mod pages and left a comment asking for advice. Nexus again stated that I was being ridiculous and banned me. I have been unable to mod my games for more than a year now. Nexus won't even let me submit an unban request. I feel that Nexus is run by greedy arrogant people and they are on my boycott list.
However, I was hoping you or anyone that sees this comment can guide me to an alternative site for downloading mods.

The Final Fantasy 7 mod really got my attention. That's exactly what I wanted years ago when the PS2 came out and was so much more powerful than the PS1. But I think that Evercrisis game for mobile is them completely remaking the original game but with a completely different art style. If that doesn't come to PC then I am definitely getting that mod. Also, curious what your PC specs are at Gameranx, cus I just got a new pc and am wondering how far I can push mine. If you guys read this just let me know. Thanks

If you're a fan of Bethesda games, the Wabbajack auto-installer will put modlists on your PC that have already been developed and optimized and polished by experts, and it'll do it in only an hour or two, all while you step away from your PC and wait.
Go use it if you're a fan of Skyrim or Fallout. They even have lists for games as old as Morrowind and they're starting to expand beyond Bethesda games with lists for Stardew Valley, No Man's Sky, Dragon Age, The Witcher 3, and more.

Still waiting for the Witcher 3 Graphical Update from CD Projekt Red and hoping for actual playable DLC not just skins from the show. Personally I think they need to give us some free story DLC to make up for the Cyberpunk 2077. I mean Borderlands 2 got new DLC before BL3 to tie in the story for free that was such a cool idea. I'm not sure if we will ever go back to Geralt's story so I would like some closure to his story and lets be honest if we do, I'll be like 40 years old by then. Lmao

funny, i wanted to make that FF13-gameplay-pun about skyrim and its janky combat.
i played through the whole FF13 trilogy not once, not twice, but three times. and i couldn't stand skyrim for more than 30-60 minutes before i said fck this crap. i tried six times over the years, because everyone praised it all the time X_x.
also: THANKS for showing me that tie-fighter mod, omg that looks sick!

Batman Arkham Knight is basically a late gen Unreal Engine 3 game pushed beyond the limits. Whatever stutters and framedrops you may experience might need massive amounts of CPU performance headroom to mitigate.
One thing Digital Foundry noted about this game in particular is that using a 60 FPS frame limiter does mitigate stutters. Just saying in case you're curious about revisiting this game.

Minecraft, boys.
After years of taking a break from the game, I came back just to see what had changed and installed some shaders. And my jaw literally dropped, as I sat there dumbstruck, looking at the rustling leaves, the sunlight dappled on the ground and the reflections after a rainshower.
It still has those super simple textures, but man does it look gorgeous.

LAUGH. OUT. LOUD. that SSE modlist is basic at best. no Pfuscher textures, no enb/reshade (at least it doesn't say what he's using, no bug fixing mods, and more. not only that, but ELFX is woefully outdated and there are way better alternatives with less cost to performance. i could go on, but imo that list is trash.

You guys should check out the Wabbajack automated modlist installer. It automatically downloads and installs tons of mods for games such as fo4, Skyrim, The Witcher 3, etc based on custom lists created by modlist authors. The lists are almost always very stable and there are some lists that have 1300+ mods.

I cant stand why they make fallout mods that make the game looks like. radioactive colors, but not in the radioactive cool way. the world should be bleak not colorfull to the brin.
ps compare what was show here for skyrim as good example to more beautfull colors but not overdoing it.

I m surprised Minecraft isn t on this list, Minecraft is probably the most versatile game especially when it comes to graphics. Something like Seus shaders, an ultra realistic texture mod, and Distant Horizons mod to see far, and you have yourself an amazing boost.

I think an honorable mention would need to be Mario Sunshine 4K texture pack by henriko magnifico, it not only adds HD texture but you can also use bloom and ambient occlusion, it really improve the visuals without sacrificing art style, a truly remaster.
