10 games where nearly everything can be destroyed
video description
I d play through hours of Mercenaries 2 just destroying major targets like the oil rigs and military bases roleplaying a hostile takeover.
Imagine not being able to takeoff from Los Santos International because someone bombed the airstrip, or less police because their squad cars have been destroyed. Little actions from players that make in-game impacts

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction was amazing, my favorite game for a lot of years. So many great features: A black market system for buying supply drops, vehicles, helicopters, airstrikes, artillery, etc, each mission you get some free black market stuff for that mission, you can honk your horn and Allie s will get into your vehicle along with manning the turrets, and the Deck of 52 were you have named characters each being assigned a card and special missions for the Jack, Queen, King, and Ace of each suit.

the original xcom enemy unknown/ufo defense you could literally blow up everything. no physics so you could destroy the entire first floor of a building or ship and the upper floors would still be up there but still fun to blow out a wall instead of going through doors into shooting galleries. There is a known exploit for the last mission where if you arm all your soldiers with blaster bombs you can blow a path through the walls and dirt to the final boss without leaving the start zone.

I love 'Rampage'. Spent many, many quarters on that game when I was a kid.
Honorable mention to 2009's 'Ghostbusters: The Video Game'. While the main structures cannot be destroyed, many of the items in the environment can be. So much so, the game had two achievements for it. 'The Destructor': Complete the game with more than 3, 000, 000 in property damage. 'Nice Shootin', Tex! ': Complete the game with less than 100, 000 in property damage.

Okay, but can we have some love for one of the OGs - Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction? It was one of the best superhero games of its era, built on a simple premise: Hulk SMASH. And smash he does. You can almost literally flatten the landscape and move exactly as the Hulk should - with a real sense of weight and power, where even your weapons come from breaking things.

An old school PS2 game called War of the Monsters was really fun when I played it. Granted, the arenas you fought in weren't huge, but you can literally destroy every single building while fighting in every arena. Some of the city maps that had a lot of taller buildings were so fun to just mess around on. BTW War of the Monsters is on PS Plus if anyone wanted to try it.

No mention of Mercenaries but katamari gets a spot. i'm actually shocked.
Also there is a tank game on n64 i believe where the entire main of the game was to level the city and if you were in a Goliath tank you could shoot a super missile that itself had a laser but you could also control it and just flatten buildings.

Where is 7 Days to Die? You mentioned Minecraft! On 7 Days you can literally destroy every square foot of an entire city, and every mountain, hill, tree, rock, lake, valley, cave system, and even the first few hundred feet of the Earth's surface if one were so inclined! Come to think of it it should be #1.

Incredible hulk ultimate destruction was insanely fun being an unstoppable force of destruction. Granted the destruction faded away pretty quickly but those ultimate moves where the hulk becomes a magnet and pulls in everything only to be destroyed once his power is unleashed was a great high point

Oh man this video just made me yearn for what could've been with Crackdown 3. When they were showing it in previews originally, it looked like it was going to be Red Faction: Guerilla levels of destruction, but cranked past 11 all the way to like 37. Such a disappointment in the end.

A game I think is worth mentioning in this list is Noita. These were all 3d games, Noita is a 2d rouge-like platformer where every pixel is interactive in the main world (not the background. Really good list though, brought up some games I'm going to have to check out.

Am I only one that gets annoyed by Jake constantly using the term chef s kiss every single time he does video. For whatever the topic is one way or the other Jake will say and do the Chefs kiss and for some reason it just drives me up a wall with how annoying I really find it.

There's a PC game called Where Is My Hammer? - though since there's not a lot to it, it's probably more like a demo (hyuk yuk. You swing a big hammer and wreck a car, a bunch of statues inside a house, and then the house. That's it, but it's still pretty fun

I'm kind of surprised Deep Rock Galactic isn't on here. It's all about mining and excavating with explosives, pickaxes, and drills. Hell, one of the tactics is to mine all around something so it's unsupported and therefore crumbles down into pieces.
