10 Open World Games That Let You Conquer Areas Stimm002: Chromehounds. There was a world map with a number of factions to start with. You and the other mech teams in your faction would battle on maps that represented a section of the world map. Your goal was to take over as many sections of the map as possible. You could lose areas that weren't defended. It was a game way ahead of its time. When it came out consoles didn't even have built on WiFi and Internet speeds were terrible. I think if they remade it today it would do much better.

it doesn't QUITE Qualify, but Just Cause 4 comes to mind.
you wind up working with a team of revolutionaries who call themselves the army of Chaos, and one of your objectives is to help them take the entire island away from the Black Hand.
the captured areas don't change in appearance, but your ability to airdrop weapons and vehicles become more effective with every conquest.
more things become available, faster cooldown before the next airdrop.
also, you can see the two armies fighting at the edge of your territory, which is quite cool, and unpredictable.
you also need to build up your forces by blowing up red objects, which is a staple of all the Just Cause games.

It would be nice, if in the next prototype game ( if they'll ever be a new prototype game) that you can choose to infect the city and takeover parts of it, while recruiting other infected super powered people, to take down government controlled parts of the city.
Or heal up the city from the infection, having people look up to you as a hero, even helping you in a specific places in the story, even putting up posters.

Sadly in odyssey (the imposter of Ac franchise) you can join a factor against the other and conquer that area but it doesn t mean anything for the story or the setting at All
Which is really depressing cuz when you play this game for 140+ hrs it becomes a cyclone of madness that you either escape or finish
Sheesh, I really hate this game ngl

Great video if anyone reading likes open world conquering games may I suggest a RTS called Rise of Nations, think age of empires but you go from stone age to Sci fi it also imagines what civilisations would be like if they were still around, so you can even end up with a ancient roman empire civilsation with orbital space cannon technology

I think the major difference to the usual X4 games is the player as an in-universe person. Not some immortal controlling force. The conquest is also more plot than mechanic, imho. In many other games like Just Cause and many Far Cry you liberate the areas more than conquer. They change hands, but you have little to no control.

My issue with state of decay 2 is they did very little post launch to add to the base building. Sure there's Trumbull valley and the red talon stuff but their main focus seemed to be tweaking the zombies and adding difficulty modes. Im hoping in 3 they'll have gotten it down pat

Minecraft, I always go to villages and steal their crops, break their houses for their wood, trade them sticks to gather their emeralds and make them work for me by giving the jobs they didn t know they wanted. I d say I m a conqueror of those pesky villagers

Wow seeing Viking on this list gave me childhood memories! One of the first games I got on my 360 and had a CD full of techno on the console and would just always play the two together and get so lost in the game dying left and right it was a great time ngl

All due respect I don't know about anything about Dragon Quest but I KNOW of Minecraft and they are known. I don't think they needs to do anything like other any other game. What they do is perfect and works for that fan base.

Love this mechanic though can you do a video on top games that change with your actions, like viking or saboteur with the colour changing. Kena Bridge of spirits is a good example as you bring life back to areas as you go
