The intro is strong and cool, but the gameplay is tedious and repetitive after only several hours. It's quite difficult too. Not because I'm bad haha, I've more than a decade of experience playing different shooter games. But because you cannot reliably avoid damage and even the most basic enemies can K. O. you with 2-4 punches, while requiring 3-5 shotgun blasts to the face or about 10-12 hits with your axe to go down. And with one or two it's fine but a lot of places have 3-5 enemies with a very small arena to fight them and rigid FOV doesn't help either. Sometimes you are just stuck in a corner with 3-4 bots around you and no bullets or other means to break through them.
Overall the combat is very slow, stale and lacks impact. To my taste the type of game it tries to be needs a very robust combat system to carry it while the story is kind of the cherry on top, maybe not as sweet or elaborate, but good combat makes progressing fun enough. The best example is the Wolfenstein reboot.
The customisation is nice tho. Overall style is impressively consistent and cool to take in.
Unfortunately, to me it looks like the game is all style and no substance. So I'll wait for a sale and beat the game over a weekend when I have the time.
P. S. All of this is based on around 5 hours playthrough on a dev build so not everything might be accurate. However, I decided to share my thoughts because to me it doesn't feel like the game deserves your money if you're paying full price

i have been playing it for a few hours and although it looks amazing and there is a lot to love it feels like none of the elements gell together as if the team were never in the same room, or even on the same page.
the game despreatly needed a director to organise the flow of the game.
my one recomendation would be play it on easy as they spam enemys and its not fun on normal or hard and go for the polimer upgrades (see boomstick gameing for how to do that) as then you can have fun with the combat and it wont be such a grind.
basicly jake is spot on a flawed but overall worth playing on game pass.
there is so much talent in the team but they lack focus if they can get that sorted they have a very bright future.

It feels somewhat like Condemned in this weird way in the beginning area where most of us are right now (I started playing at midnight on Game Pass. I agree though the hits even heavy feel kinda weak even though technically if you read the notes one says most are built to take heavy fire so it makes sense an axe wouldn't annihilate it kind of. Lol. I guess at least not without upgrades which I'm liking so far only thing I dislike is exactly what you said about P-3 being a dick. The sheer amount of times I've realized he treats these robots like pure crap and just tools has had me surprised but also kind of laughing in mean way. Will say the shotgun feels very satisfying with the damage to robots attachment.

Well the game seems okay given its a new IP and all.
I'll give it a couple of months to see how it pans out by other people. It just came out so I'll give it some time is all I'm saying.
You can't always create a master piece from your first try. You have to start somewhere.
You gave it credit where credit is due and it seems like a fun game for the most part. I mean BioShock as fun as it was, wasn't all that perfect either but the story, overall mechanics and game world made it what it is. I feel like this game is giving off a similar vibe.

I was kinda hiped for this game, the settings, the music and weapons are awesome and I just love robotos Vs humans games (Horizon is my favourite because of it) but from what I've seen the story and the main character kinda of bum the whole thing down a lot, I'll definitely play it but probably after it's on sale because right now I'll save my money for Hogwarts Legacy when it goes on PS4 and of course Resident Evil 4 remake that's a must for me this year

Wow didnt expect him to be so critical of the game lol. Man i hoped this would be a good bioshock successor, i loved those games, played them like a million Times. Even bought them again for my switch. With all the Flaws the game seems to have tho, i think ithe ingenuity and the Art style are unique. And for Such a small Indie game developer this game is quite an accomplishement.

The fact that the game is in game pass day one makes it a mustplay for me. The combination of games like Wolfenstein or Bioshock with some beautiful enviroment and nature without major performance problems stopping you from playing is satisfying to see after all the releases we had in the last year. Can t wait to play it tonight!

Then after I make a big deal about the art and atmosphere I ll get bored with the sub par tedious gameplay and ridiculous narrative drivel quick and go back to Disco Elysium or Witcher 3 or possibly Goldeneye. Or maybe finally crack open Echos of the Eye dlc for Outer Wilds.

I did have to force close the game because i got stuck trying to climb out of the pool at one point and clipped into the wall, slowly (and i mean SLOWLY) took damage and couldnt do anything but swing my axe and fire. other than that the game ran fine on my pc, solid 180+ frames at max push

I did play leaked dev build, and now go version. Much better it is for sure, but yes. Eng dubb suck ass so hard, i havo idea how russ works, but for me the polish dubb is okay and much much better than Eng. So if u r native Eng speaker and u want to play this game u gonna have bad time.

I cant wait to play it from what i've seen game looks and play's decent, ok so dialog not grate its not a deal breaker and what if it is a bit like Bioshock its not a bad thing its been years since we seen a Bioshock game anyway but i like the androids fighting humans theme

It's got a great aesthetic, the setting is great. But WHY has everyone got awful American accents or oddly British. Could we not manage an accent? That intensifies just how terrible the dialogue is. That said, I am really enjoying just seeing the world that had been created.

I had to pause the vid to rant a little! Who in hell and why would want a silent protagonist? In 2023! I hate silent protagonists and it's the dumbest thing. Imagine being an NPC and you are talking through a walkie talkie with a silent man. Dumbest thing EVER!

Another simp review from gameranq the enemies are bullet sponges the bosses -1 are just bullet sponges with no mechanics to learn the setting is pieced together and constantly makes no sense art direction wise the game is a dud play on gamepass or pass its crap

I m sorry I played the first 30+ minutes and the dialogue and main voice actor are awful but I figured out you can just mute the dialogue and it made the game at least 50% better. It s a bit awkward but it s better than listening to anyone talking honestly.
