10 Video Game Stories That Are Still INCOMPLETE BlueGriffin20: My choice for this list is Conduit 2. The Conduit was popular enough to get a second game. Lots of conspiracy storyline involving the all seeing eye, aliens, Atlantis, and more as you try to defend earth. Jump to the end of the of the second game where a dormant alien spaceship is on its way to earth and a giant portal opens with men in armor saying they are ready to help you in the battle to come. Oh and two of those men are George Washington and Abraham Lincoln decked out in armor. Yep would really love to finish that cliffhanger.

Borderlands The Pre-Sequel probably doesn't totally count, since there is another game coming out and we may very well get a resolution then, but boy-howdy was I expecting a resolution in BL3. TPS is all about your characters, villains from the first two games, working alongside Handsome Jack and the bl1 vault hunters to open a vault on Elpis. But the real cliffhanger is the framing device; Lilith from the first game is interrogating your character, and in the end she's all hot and bothered to have the crimson raiders blow her away. Just after she gives the order and before they pull the trigger, a vault guardian shows up, spews some mystical BS that boils down to you're gonna need her and. Roll credits. There's a bigger war coming for Lilith, Athena(the person Lilith is interrogating, the only TPS vault hunter who's still around at the end of bl2) will be desperately needed and I guess the vault guardians will be there? Okay, makes sense. Except that in BL3, Athena never shows up. Nothing from TPS is actually important as of where we are now. Maybe this is all happening in 4? Sure. But Lilith is gone, so how are her and Athena supposed to work together in whatever's coming?

It's been talked aobut before but Ghosts is a good one to include on the list. It had a very unique setting and pretty good story in my view as a kid, and it ended it a big cliffhanger. However, the game was a failure as the game itself was bad. Because of the annual releases of CoDs, there's always a chance we'll get a Ghosts 2, but because there's been an annual release date without ever hinting at the Ghosts universe, no one can hope for it or the return of AI-controlled fish.

i would love to get a prototype 3 because the 1st game has loose ends related too the web of intrigue that where never answered in prototype 2 and heck prototype 2 story ending was a huge cliffhanger in general due to the hint of a third game and so much more. but radical entertainment is gone i believe sadly but if ACTivison ever decided to resurrect the prototype franchise or even remaster the 1st 2 games for series x i would buy them in a heart beat.

Golden Sun!
Golden Sun 2 had a hell of a cliffhanger ending. After many years, they miraculously released Golden Sun 3 as an 11th hour DS title (which instantly looked like crap next to 3DS games, but that's besides the point, and they never deal with the new villain reveal at the end of 2. Instead of wrapping up the series in what would surely be the last entry to get made, they ended it with more unanswered questions.

I actually have really fond memories of playing that Prince of Persia reboot on PS3. I didn t have the experience of playing the originals to compare it too and I honestly just really loved the architecture and overall design of the world you get to explore. And I remember being really surprised at the ending but I didn t hate it at all, I thought it was pretty intense and not at all common to have an ending like that

It also doesn t help that DICE is a completely new studio by now so next to none of the people behind the first Mirror s Edge still work at EA. Maybe The Finals will have all the answers eventhough its a different IP, so different universe, different publisher you know. everything but the brains behind it is different. It s clear Mirror s edge inspired some of the movement and vibes of mirrors edge though!

I loved the Alane Wake game, probably still one of the most creative games I've ever played. But nothing tops a terrible ended for me than a game that simply doesn't even have one. That would be Ascent! Beautiful game, gorgeous graphics, fun, repayable but absolutely not ending, no cut scene no nothing. That's the worst I've ever experienced.

Sorry to say or well happy to say, #6 is actually being continued right now, theres a new prince of Persia being made, its a 2. 5D platformer, so the story is being carried on, tho it might leave plots open as for some reason your not the prince, your some other guy with no powers hunting someone that stole the time powers

Halo 4. It s the only game I like from 343 but what the hell happened at the end of it. Had the whole ending scene with the Didactic monologuing and never saw the ending in a game. Regardless, I consider that entry being the official ending of the Halo series, im choosing to ignore 5 and Infinite because of how bad the story is

I mean to be fair, sometimes there doesn't need to be a sequel. In the case of Prince of Persia 2008, I just accepted that it was a darker prince of Persia story, that ends with the prince choosing his love interest over stopping the apocalypse (Ahriman. Not every story has to have a happy ending.

I'd have to say Darksiders plays out more like an Avengers prequel. You have a back story of each character before the big battle. It's like the ending of Iron Man. They don't have the Avengers come out right after it, but Nick Fury, flat out says there's one being made.

I hate cliffhangers in video-games and TV-series. I would really like to know before I dive into a game, or a TV-series, if it's going to end on a cliffhanger. Thankfully it's rare in video-games, but when it does happen and the story is actually good, it's annoying.

gameranx 9: 44 you got that information mixed around Misadventure of tron bonne was released in 1999 JP and 2000 US, megaman legends 2 came out in 2000 JP and 2001 US. there's a reason why misadventures of tron bonne had a demo of megaman legends 2

Anachronox ends with a cliffhanger and we don't hear anything after the credits rolled so that was a very wasted potential. Still a good game though but the story is STILL INCOMPLETE (as the title of this video mentions, just want to throw it out there)

The Elite series. Where or what is Raxxla? What's the deal with the Thargoids? These questions are almost 40 years old.
The current iteration is still going but I'm really starting to doubt that the game will last until the resolution of the story.

I'd add _D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die. _ It's an episodic adventure game, but only the first two episodes were released. What they set up was intriguing, but director Hidetaka Suehiro left Access Games and announced that there wouldn't be any more episodes.

First one I thought of was Sly Cooper. Thieves in Time ended on a cliffhanger of Sly being stuck in Egypt, and Sanzaru has basically left it there. Supposedly, the story was going to end in a dlc, but the game didn t do too well, and it was dropped.
reply

Right off the bat, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. Yes, I understand that it's a cliffhanger, but still. Not exactly a good place to leave the series off at. It's been over 10-years at this point, and there's still no sign of a resolution in sight.

As a huge fan of the franchise, Mass Effect: Andromeda absolutely should be on this list too. Even the upcoming 5th game is unlikely to really tie everything up from ME: A. It might have a couple answers, sure, but probably many more questions, too.
