10 Great Games You Absolutely HATE AT FIRST Brad: I'd like to nominate Titan Quest. Unless you're playing certain builds, the early game is one hell of a slog. You have nothing and move slowly, you do little damage, hp and energy (mana) take forever to regen, you feel like you spam potions all the time, attacks don't look cool. The first boss can feel like a brick wall with claws. Grind spots are neither plentiful nor fruitful. Heaven forbid you started off with Defense as your first Mastery!
In my experience it's about level 10-12, and around the spider cave area, where the game starts to pick up. You can farm the Arachnos armors, and every newb's favorite weapon a Deathweaver's Legtip. (There's no shame in it, we've all used it) You've found an attack you like, and can start spamming it, and/or your summons are finally getting worth the trouble. You've found some gear to stick those parts in, maybe even found a unique.
Some of the same devs did Grim Dawn, and it's a lot more early-game friendly.

To me days gone is a masterpiece from start to finish, the first opening scene gave me chills, i was amazed by the visuals and the presentation. Amazing game and really really criminally underrated for no reason. And i love deek. he went through alot physically and mentally that is why hes always muttering and angry. but hes a fantastic character once you stick with him a little imo and portrayed by a fantasic actor. the gameplay, the open world, the soundtrack, visuals, even the story is amazing and yes the story does get better the further you get but that is what i like about days gone. it hits deep. and its one of my personal favorites. just a shame the game didnt get the love it deserved. really wanted there to be a sequel. the devs really put love and effort into this game.

It takes a whole before you get the chance to take on an actual zombie horde, dude have you ever ACTUALLY played the game? Their is a wandering horde 24/7 as soon as the opening and tutorial portion is done. You can encounter small hordes IMMEDIATELY afterwards. And even within the first 2 hours of starting the game you can find hordes of 25+ when you have only 2 or 3 guns, very little ammo, and very few components. Yes hordes are uber easy to avoid if you choose to, like not hard to avoid AT ALL. But it doesnt take a while, that proves you've obviously never played this game yourself before.

As a very early Xbox 360er Dead Rising is not just my favourite 360 game of that time but it is still BY FAR the best Dead Rising Game. Loved it from the moment I booted it and watched the Night of The Living Dead style movies on the title page. Then I booted it up and was effing brilliant, it was a Dawn of the Dead sandbox of hilarity (seriously, the first time I saw Frank West do a Rex Kramer in the opening video was just superb) and awesomeness. Yeah, the timer did add an element of tension, ah well zombie apocalypse gonna zombie apocalypse I suppose.

X-Com 2 wasn't hard, it just had zero chill. X-Com was always a strategy game, where X-Com 2 kinda ditched that to make a more chaotic experience. If this was a new IP, I'd say good on them, but it's not, it's a total about-face from what X-Com always was.
If they turned SimCity into an FPS, it could a really, really good FPS and people would still be disappointed. I finished X-Com 2, then never fired it up again, but I'll still dip back in X-Com Long War, which is many, many times more difficult than X-Com 2, but just more. Well, X-Com.

Days gone is one of my favorite games honestly. Its one of the few games i keep going back to when im burnt out on new games. The story is great, the unique take on the virus is cool, the world is huge, the boss fights (hordes) are awesome, and the atmosphere/world feels legit, the survival difficulties are challenging but fair, and the challenge mode is actually pretty fun and rewarding. Only real complaint ive had is weapon and upgrade balancing. Would have been cool if they did something with the teir system so old weapons could be made viable.

Final Fantasy XIII I think should be on this list. It's pretty meh at first where most battles can be auto-battled through but then it starts getting more strategic and the paradigm system really starts to shine. I absolutely love its combat and FFXIII-2 is one of the only RPGs I've loved enough to platinum. These two games got a lot of undeserved hate because people wanted a more open world (though the story is definitely a bit lacking especially since a lot of it requires reading instead of cutscenes and the like.

I was a developer on Days Gone (environment art team) and it's always a funny feeling when your own/team's critiques line up exactly with what players say. it's very much a thats what I'VE been saying for years! feeling hahaha. In spite of the flaws I'm really proud of what a relatively small studio was capable of, especially for its first console game/new IP in literal decades. I'm thankful for the love it's gotten though and the fanbase has been nothing but enthusiastic & kind

I don t like the Souls games that much not because they are hard or punish you for dying or for most of the reasons people give. I simply don t like the games because I really dislike the story and setting and lore. It s just not a universe I want to spend a lot of time in. Elden Ring was a little better in this regard but I don t really like the story or lore in that game either. But yeah. Just dislike that whole world. It s obscure and depressing in a not fun way, imo.

Days gone is criminally underrated. Critics like you made this game a flop without even playing it. You guys made the developers decide not to make its part 2 eventhough it had one of the best ending in gaming history. Now everyone is realizing it's one of the best zombie game ever made. As you said it wasn't boring or weird in the beginning. It was amazing from the very first minute and Decon st John is awesome as always. Some people don't deserve a great game.

i ve wanted to start MG5 again so badly. never got very far. Then either lost my save, or sold my PS4, or a roommate used my save etc. etc. I had started that game four separate times. And I really really want to play it. But the thought of going through the opening hospital ever again, even though it s only like an hour, makes me just unable to do it. crazy thing is, the first time going through it, it was such an immersive way to start a game.

I love the original Mass Effect games but I have to admit that 1 can be hard to get into, especially with the planet exploration. I actually started with 2 and 3, My boyfriend at the time told me that was the best way to start and I am still not sure I agree to be honest. But after I was hooked, I did go back and play one and I love it, because I got so much more backstory, but ya, it is slow and tedious sometimes.

Shoutout to EVERY aging mmo on the market. Sure, you may like the tutorial area, but how bout that pop-up simulator you get when you hit the first big city? Looking at you TESO and D&D. Ah, you've entered the hub. Here are 6, 000 messages, storylines, events, mini-games, stores, etc. None of which have any apparent connection to each other. Good luck.
I just turn the game off when I see it.

I NEVER disliked Days gone, I was there for preorder and straight loved it even with bugs. I loved Deacon bc where that character fell short I love SAM WITWER the voice actor AND the FACE for Deacon. I loved the game through and through and just sad they couldn't get a sequel so we can see how crazy the hordes could be with new gen and pc in mind, bc ps4 that shit was awesome!

I thought the critics were dumb from the start on Days Gone. I enjoyed that game from the start, and was surprised it was getting so much hate. I think it came at a time when everyone was anticipating The Last of Us 2, and people were salty that it wasn't that in a time when they really wanted that. Either way, the game is good, and always has been. Critics be damned.

Death's Stranding problem was not that it was boring.
I just dont like my main motivation to play videogames being to watch a story unfold.
There are other midias for that. This one is for engaging through interactivity.
If I wanna see some story after a hard time walking from point A to B, I can just put some rocks in my shoes and go to the movies.

Monster Hunter: World for me, I went in blind and had no idea the vastly different types of play from weapon to weapon. Grabbed a greatsword and absolutely hated the slow and sluggish attacks, ended up uninstalling the game from my PS4. Years later, I ended up with 250+ hours on PS4 and 500 on PC in what is one of my all time favourite games.

For me, it is the Metro games.
I started the first one (a few years ago) played it for a bit, gave up (returned it to the game store.
Then I bought the trio recently (really cheap on PS store) and while the first game isn't the best, it was a lot better than I remembered and played all 3 one after the other and thoroughly enjoyed my time

Honestly Im still no convinced about souls games. Like yeah I can see the appeal but to me atleast I prefer games that are not so obnoxiously hard (except maybe cuphead but I agreed to go through that because I love the art style) and have actual story in them (atleast one that you can actually understand what the hell are you doing there.

Great video, you guys really came up with a solid concept for this one. I almost forgot about The Last Guardian but that was such a beautiful game, they really tied the gameplay into the story so well and in really unconventional ways. When you ve played way too many games you really start to appreciate experimental stuff like that.
