Persona 3 was my first game in the smt universe, and for all those years i never touched other smt games for some reason, just persona games. 2 years ago i started playing the older personas 1 and 2, also main line smt games and spin offs. I even bought a switch in december to play smt 5. After playing the old personas and a lot of smt games, i can say it whole heartedly, all this time management mechanic can go, also the social link stuff, i mean it can stay but at least it could be way more optional not tied to persona level ups. I didn't miss it in the other games. Reload made me to realize it again, i have 29 hours in the game so far and i like it very much, but 70% of the game is social stuff. I love that you can hang out with the dorm members it's a great addition, but raising your social traits is not fun. Never been fun in persona 3-5, i spent more time in wakatsu, hagakure and wild duck burger than tartarus. Okay that's a reach, i know there're other ways but i think i'm not the only one that someone can wake up from a drunken slumber, and remember those food joints, and which of them raises what stat, and spell correct the japanese names in romaji.

The best thing about reload for me is STREGA, they got more screentime and interaction with the MC. The bond episodes are also amazing especially Aragaki's, you get to learn more about Akihiko and Mitsuru there when there was only 3 of them, the activities in evening at the dorm are also amazing especially the group studies it makes you feel like a part of the team, in the original there's literally nothing to do in the dorm and you dont get to interact much with the members so this is a very good addition imo. So i would say this is the best Persona 3 to play despite lacking The Answer content in Persona 3 FES or Female MC in Persona 3 Portable, and if the rumors about The Answer (Aegis's story) will be coming as DLC I would gladly take it.
I'm currently 50 hours into the game so there might be more things that I havent discovered yet, but so far I would definitely recommend it to a long time fan or a new one

Games getting overly hated from veteran players but it’s still a good game to play if you started at persona4 golden or Persona 5 Royal.
This game means a lot to me and taught me a lot of life lessons, probably my most favorite game of all time, even if it doesn’t have FES, Mostly different VA’s from original, same exact sounding OST, I still am enjoying it, it’s kind of a new experience even as someone who played the hell out of it during my Highschool days, it absolutely deserves the spotlight and a chance to appeal to the new players coming in from p4 and p5.
Even I still wish we got more out of this remake, but what we got still is good, it’s just not perfect and has flaws.
I honestly give it a 8/10, it’s potentially a 10/10 but modern business practices, cutting content, and the music not being exactly on par with the original hold the game back.

45 hours in. It's the best Persona game so far for me. It's got every great thing P5R had except that this Tartarus is better than either Mementos or the Palaces.
Story quality is more subjective, but this gloomy emo vibe is much more up my alley than the jazz punky Rancid/NOFX vibes of P5.
I only compare it to P5R cause that's the best one. I love P5. Well, was the best one, at least for me. I can see this game's lacking in cinematic build up turning a lot of P5 fans off. P5 felt very big, whereas this is a much smaller story.
One thing that people aren't mentioning is how much more fellow SEES members feel like friends rather than co-workers like they used to. The new stuff really helps that.
It's the only other game that I can sink any significant time in since Baldur's Gate 3 came out. That should tell you everything.

I don’t mind the omissions right now. Okay I don’t like that they took out the female lead, that’s really annoying. Still it’s been so long since I played it I barely remember anything except the impact it had. I’m happy to have what originally came out. I said earlier I am annoyed about the female protagonist being gone because I never had the version with that option and almost always choose female characters as my lead roles. You see male protagonist everywhere, change is good and lets you see a new angle. Unless it’s a game that just lets you choose and that’s all. I’m about to make an omelette for dinner, watch an episode of The Bernie Mac show, then play P3.

Persona 3 ranks right there in the top 3 games I honestly wouldn't want to relive a life without playing. I'm disappointed that despite the complete rebuild of the game the FES additions weren't included, would've at least justified the $70 pricetag. Without the additions FES brought, you are basically buying a very polished remake of what was once a $30 game for more than double the price, but half the content. P3 was given the backseat for such a long time with the constant rereleases of P4 and P5, I'm just glad I get to replay such a personally important game once more on something larger than a tiny 480x272 PSP display.

I have two questions.
Are there still reverse social links I remember that if a social link is upset with you it can reverse the card and you would need to do what you can to bring it back.
Do party members level up regardless if they are in your party or not Persona 5 Royal got everyone to level up even if you didn't use them. I loved this new feature in Royal and something I believe every JRPG should do.

Given that the game seems to be data mined and if it is correct, we should be getting DLC for Aegis’ The Answer chapter from FES, am I correct in saying this is now the definitive way to play P3 I was always torn between P3P for the modern update to the gameplay and the choice of female character, but P3 FES additional content and cutscenes etc.

I'm pretty sure they're going to eventually release a persona 3 Royal edition with it.
Call me cynical but these last eight years has totally sold me on the 'greedy Japanese businessman' stereotype, at least when it comes to Japanese video game companies.

I heard Atlus still wanted the feel of the game to be stricly an upgraded remake, meaning they did not want to redesign from scratch but update and improve already existing ones. So that's why some sections may feel like it's a bit outdated lol I never finished P3P and P3 when I was a kid because Tartarus was both a slog and the combat was so fixed. Hoping to finally finish this one!

To me, the definitive version is FES because the answer is. or should be the canon ending to the story. Also I am waiting since then for them to release a follow up. release the seal and get the main character out of his soul prison. Instead we got the portable version, the dancing game, two persona Q and now this since then. I really hope for FES related dlc for this one.

4: 55 a lot of floors with not a lot of generation. few generic rooms. gets repetitive quickly. ngl, the game looks great. But for $70, easy pass. I love Persona, but this is a weak refresh, Atlus. I think as fans of your games, we're not asking for much; the dungeons could have probably used the most attention, so it's too bad that this part of the game suffered the most.

It’ll be full retail price, they’ll be no upgrade path and you know Atlus is going to rake it in

Guys, i ain't seen a lot of content about persona 3 reload, but in persona 5, when u progress a Social Link u get some bonuses, like, ryuji rank 9 give u the instakill if u are above a enemy level, if in P3R don't have that its kinda a downgrade i mean, i know that has differences between the new gen and the ps2 gen, but i feel isnt worth it

Anytime I have a reason to turn on my xbox again that game ends up being ehhhh. Xbox needs a big exclusive as being a PS5 mostly player with a switch on the side my Xbox Series S only gets turned on for gamepass once every 6 months or so. Last time was for Starfield which was so boring and and Lies of P for me was just way to hard.

I think that the Gameranx team here pinpointed the exact reason of why a Persona game is such a unique JRPG: it's very veeeery long, even for JRPG standards, but they have such a good pacing to their story, they never (well, 98% of the time) feel stale. You can be 60h deep in it, and still wanting more of the story and their carachters.

To be a hypocrite, will likely be getting it at some point but also would kinda rather have left this in 2006 and had an all new Persona 6 faster. It's like 7 years since Persona 5 at this point.
A lot of people want lots of videogame remakes given how tech advances but I'd just rather have new stuff.

I finished P5R about a month ago, I'm like. 4/5ths of the way through P4G, and I've got P3R and P3P loaded up in my steam library so I can play Reload and then run through the FeMC route next. And I never would've played Persona at all if it weren't for your P5R Before You Buy. Such a great franchise.

That's a game I would have definitely bought if the developers didn't Stupify it with a turn-based fighting system, so since they have a turn-based fighting system in it they messed themself over with getting my money, if I want to play a turn-based game I would go out and buy buy a board game
