I think I haven't disagreed more with a review. Yes this needs some work, but it is Early Access and it is only $30 and on sale on steam as of right now so only $26. there is a lot to enjoy here for $26. I think the crafting isn't mind-numbing but more complex and intriguing and more customizable instead of just get thing and build next thing. I'm American so I haven't had any of the server issues even when playing with friends. Maybe I'm just lucky I don't mind the always online but I have a few friends and a sibling that I play with online a lot so it's expected for me to be online for gaming sessions. I think this is one of those games you need to put a lot of time into to get out of it what the trailers show and I have been seeing a lot of people dismiss it after like 10hrs. I think it's less hand hold and leaves a lot up to experiment with with the realms and card system along with exploring in those realms. If you want to follow a more linear story and don't enjoy the slower pace of building your base up over time and going to that place over there that looks interesting then this might not be for you. Yes some of the places are a bit similar but that's before you start spinning up new relams and experimenting with minor cards. Combat is fine especially for this genre, it is not an ARPG with survival mechanics, it is a survival game. I think this game is more for people that want to post up, build a place, explore and enjoy the world over time and many many hours in you might have a really cool estate with neat gear. Hopefully with good memories from friends. On the things they do need to fix and improve on I will say they already have a very active discord and have been incredibly receptive to the community with already implementing changes that were suggested there. So I encourage people to try it out and join the community and be part of the solution, don't just sit back, complain, and say you'll come back when it's good.

Just so everyone understands, I have over 4k hours in 7d2d and crafting and station arranging and base building is what I spend 80% of my time doing in it. I also was a tester for this game.
The crafting is awful. The UI is non-intuitive. The benches don't look like how they do in the polished trailers. It's overly complex for the sake of being complex and the menu gets so big so fast but is poorly put together. Just loading up the crafting mats is tedious. The building is super basic, squares on squares with little variety or options, and again does not look like the trailers. I suspect a lot of the cool footage we all saw may not even be in this release.
Know that this was my top wanted game until i played it, so much so I applied to be a tester to support it. Among us testers we commented all the above and had concerns about it being not fun. The game itself feels like it was made over ten years ago. Maybe back then we'd tolerate all its flaws but aside smooth, smart EA releases like Palworld and Enshrouded, this game feels likd mud.

Damn i feel like you are harsh on this one or not comparing it with the other survival game.
Like, comparing the combat to other survival game, this one is amongs the best.
Differente type of crafting table, i can give you that, there is a lot of them in the beginning, but its far from a deal breaker knowing how people that play survival game like the grind, thats a huge part of the genre. Plus, your npc compagnons constently gather stuff to help with the grind, just equipe him with whatever tool is needed for the thing you want and let it do its thing.
Online solo play, it is clearly a probleme for a lot of people i get that.
And if we are talking lag, damn i think you have forgot how all the other survival game were at release day. they were all a complete mess. this one feel clean in comparison.

i have new computer. and it meets spec requirements.
im not sure of its this game exactly. but once I was playing and then not the game, not my pc, but my monitor. my monitor crashed.
I do have a 4k monitor and play with the fsr or whatever. But my monitor crashed and I had to shut down my pc. It wouldn't even shut down with power button. I needed to hit the power to the motherboard for it to shut down.
Either my pc major messed up, or this game caused my pc to majorly mess up. but I noped out of this game and uninstalled for now. I'm probably gonna wait a year since I don't want a dead computer.

been playing for 15 hours with no problems aside from when they did the hotfix last night. no lag, no bugs, just fun. sucks that people are having issues because it's already really fun and i look forward to what they do with it in the future. I like anything to do with the Fae, Exploring has been rewarding. totally agree that the online only thing does suck. I don't find the ui to be that annoying. this is an early access game so these issues can totally be fixed. idk i'[m into it but i can see how it's not for everyone.

I'm going to say what I said to someone else who reviewed it. It's working fine for me. There's a some bugs and glitches, but nothing game breaking for me. I'm loving the story, mostly. Yeah, it's a bit long-winded but bearable. At least for me, because I enjoy learning lore. I experienced a bit of lag due to the whole always online crap. But it is what it is. I can only hope they change that for solo play, as that's all I play these days. I didn't play any of the tests. All in all, I'm enjoying the game.

Bought it, loving it. Can't wait to play when i come home from work. I like the art, the graphics and also the crafting. It's no palworld or enshrouded but i like it. I know it's rough around the edge but i've been there for several EA and this one isn't the worst one i've seen, far from it. Idk why poeple care so much about always online. Tons of game out that are super popular that use this method and no one seem to care. Yes i would love a single player but i couldn't care less tbh.

I've played a fair amount of nightingale and I would have to agree with this review. I do think the game will improve as it has a good skeleton and is in early access.
I will say I don't agree with palworld releasing in a better state. I've never had any issues loading into nightingale. Palworld on the Xbox was so broken I've spent multiple hours trying to load into the game proper and not a shadow filled hellscape where sometimes my avatar doesn't even appear.

I’ve played 107 minutes so far and I’m really enjoying it. Visually I love it. I’ve never played a survival game before, so it’s something new to me. Only issue I’ve had was within the first realm the grass and dirt textures were bounces left and right. Once I entered the desert realm it stopped. Also had maybe 2 or 3 big fps dips. Went from 104 fps to 75 and then from 106 to 58. At the swamp realm now and all seems good.

Trailer looked interesting enough to put on a wishlist but there wasn't anything that jumped out as being a wow cool, day one purchase
Enshrouded had the next fest demo which sold the game to me as I could see for myself how it played as a solo experience. The ability to play a game without being hindered by a lack of other players does a huge amount for the longevity of a title once the honeymoon period is over.

Man I kinda wanted to give it a chance but the crafting really does make my eyes glaze over. It looks pretty cumbersome. We have the 1. 0 release of sons of the forest tomorrow, which was already a fantastic survival game when it came out in EA with a few issues and a lot of missing elements. I think I'll just check that out for my survival fix and see what all they have added.

Falcon, you've delivered the most FAIR review I've ever heard. Despite the negatives, you seemed to see through to this game's future, what it may be like in a year. Great job, brother. Very few people are truly fair, and you just set a great positive example.
Do you guys have Lightyear Frontier on your RADAR It looks cute as hell and chill as could be.

As an Australian the latency issues are a huge issue. The closest server to us is somewhere in South East Asia, and while it's not as bad as connecting to American servers, you still feel it.
I'm really liking it, but the latency is working hard to break that. They really need to prioritize the offline mode they said they would implement.

Was looking forward to this one, but will definitely wait to make sure they give it the work it needs before picking it up. It seems like there's nothing wrong with it at a fundamental level, just a lot of polish problems. Improve the combat AI, let you craft with stuff in storage, and it seems like it would become something I would buy.

I'm getting so tired of games adding several crafting benches. Give us a way to upgrade the one crafting bench, instead of giving us a ton. Unless, part of the crafting is based in automation. Then I could see how having multiple methods of setting things up to automat crafting as a benefit. I'm really bummed based on this review.

why the hell is singleplayer online, makes no sense
Crafting from inventory is such a nice thing and there is a reason so many survival games have mods to give crafting from inventory, Palworld did that right from the get-go, not to mention the easy sort inventory management and easy quick stacking for fast depositing

I find it frustrating, when I hear online only game it automatically puts me off, I wish they would make a survival game like this where you have a story and a pathway rather than just collect things and build things for the sake of it, I want an end goal from these survival games!

the combat doesnt look bad at all, it actually looks really competent, with different swing animations and monsters haveing multiple attacks, on the combat scale on a scale from elden ring to witcher 1 Id give it a 6 (doesnt help the rest of the games in EA hell rn tho)
