At some point the devices will become portable enough and we can all look like Cyclops. I love the idea of pinning apps to certain places and the VR device saving their location, so when you wear the headset in your house, you can have virtual pictures on the walls, clocks, video screens, fitness apps, etc. all over the house and it would be pretty dope. One minute I’m walking up the stairs and pass a bunch of cool memories. The next, I’m doing a workout with a cool app showing me a virtual trainer to workout with. Then, in front of the couch I can relax and game.
THIS is the next immersive step and as someone who doesn’t like having a lot of clutter everywhere, I am ALL ABOUT IT. And if we could share those pins with friends who came walking into our space with their own headsets, that would be TIGHT! We would have so much more options to customize our living space.

Apple products are often impressive. For AR this unit appears to have potential, and I'd be willing to swallow the price tag for AR potential but. I absolutely hate the Apple ecosphere. Twenty years ago, I remember friends with their top tier Apple product struggling with importing/syncing their music libraries to Apple products, even though just upgrading. I can afford Apple, but F that ecosphere even today. Android, Windows/Linux, PCs are where it's at for me. I like options and Apple forces users to single source with their products. Original Oculus made me nauseous but I did get the VIVE. Would get Apple Vision Pro but not if it's locked to other Apple products. Expected that. Course they would. I appreciate they're in the market now to keep things moving, but I ain't buying a gateway Apple product.

I'm into VR in a big way and there's only one thing I can think of that would make this purchase worth it. However, I can't stand Apple and how they make your own purchase impossible to repair, so keeping that bit of info to myself.
But suffice to say, there actually is something that Apple, and only Apple could do with their vast resources to make the Vision Pro a must by. even for me.
God, if only I had their resources to borrow, my idea would make me a billionaire overnight.

It's not there yet, but imagine playing baldurs gate 3 on this thing! You could use a joystick or just look and pinch (point and click) with a giant screen. The game itself has a fairly good performance on macOS natively and since visionOS still runs on top of the same architecture, it would be something that Apple could enable for developers to port (and game engines, of course.
It's not there yet. but it could be really cool for some type of games, not necessarily VR games.

There's some cool tech in this thing but the device appears to be ultimately useless. The eye tracking is neat but I'd prefer controllers any day. No doubt Apple will start selling controllers separately in a few months. For the price of an entire Quest 3, of course.
The only actual useful productivity use-case I see here is the multiple desktops. Competition is good and hopefully this will spur Meta on to improving their - now aging - UI.

Why settle for some day it could be great, when you could have everything the Vision Pro offers and all of the games. Even the reviews that deal with productivity still recommend an iPhone and MacBook to make it functional.

I think it's interesting you used it to stream so much stuff, from xbox and MacBook. I didn't see other reviewers talk about this that much. I think it's interesting, because with faster network connections we won't need that strong hardware on the go, we might be able to have an almost only streaming device that connects to faster devices. Think something like in The Expanse.

When this sort of interface will cost less than a weekly shopping cart at the grocery,
I will immensely enjoy to play online Chess on a virtual Chess board on it,
moving the pieces via finger snapping and all.
I mean, for now,
this tech is a whole lot too expensive
for what I would ever want to do with it.

I honestly don't think the concept of this thing helps society in any way man. Not an anti-apple guy, I have an iphone but, even if we got to the point where you didn't have to wear some bulky thing to have the intended functionality of this I wouldn't want it. I feel like black mirror demonstrated well enough why it would be harmful if it became the norm.

For that price I can pay my rent for 8 weeks so that I have enough left over from my regular income to buy clothes etc for the upcoming winter and get my car fixed. I like Apple products but this one is just far too expensive for normal folks. I'm not their target market though so I doubt they care. Will stick to my plain old Xbox and gamepass.

This is less of Before you buy and more of Before you can afford kinda of case.
Don't get me wrong, It IS a pretty impressive tech but paying 3k for something that's also packed with soo many restrictions is just not worth it chief.
Tech like Steam Deck and Valve Index are what i respect and want to see more of.

Speaking of vr my only experience with it is the psvr with skyrim it made me super sick everytime I played it but it was also super blurry, muddy and could never really get my depth of field right. Really wanted to try the psvr2 but idk if it’s a me problem or the original psvr just being that bad

2024 Apple: It costs 3500 bucks, weighs half a ton on your face even without a battery. But you can have a big virtual screen in it and play, uh, Fruit Ninja.

As someone who's very much into VR tech & gaming (also a fan of Apple products, my only thought is and will always be the high price. I have zero interest in paying this much especially when other comparable headsets cost a fraction of the price. I do think the tech quite impressive though.

Treat yours very gently people are reporting that the front lens on the device is cracking right at the center of the nose piece. All the published photos show the cracks in the same place and apple is covering the cracks under the warranty.

For 3500$ just get a modern spec high end gaming PC and a 4K screen setup. Could even fit in a decent VR headset in that budget.
