They wana focus on more free-to-play games They should try this. Take DCU online free to play game where you create your own hero/ villain and update the game for modern standards. Here's how they can achieve their financial goals in 1 game. They have the properties of DCUOnline and Injustice 2.
Why not take the free to play game, update the graphics to modern gaming (hell, make the graphics as good as the cutscenes. Give us new missions that take from the Avenegers game, Gotham Knights, and SSQKTJL, for example, to give us more mission types for story mode and side missions. Then add another game mode next to pvp and pve, where they take Injustice 2 and add that game in a sense as a new game mode. To have a fighting game within a free to play game.
When you create a character for DCUOnline, you have specific builds for each character. They can add a customization in Injustice 2 mode where they can take the foundation of Injustice 2, I mean, like the characters already built in both Injustice GAU/Injustice 2 and keep their combo strings for each character as they are with same frame data from those games, and the powers/gadgets/Control types you use to build your DCUO characters with, can be applied to any characters build you choose to run with. For example, let's say I built a gadget type batman character for my DCUO experience. When I customize my injustice build in the fighting game mode for DCUO, there's already so many characters that I can place my DCUO skin on top of which have specific combos/powers built into those characters (such as batman, robin, red hood, nightwing, batgirl, joker, black manta, caption cold, green arrow, black canary, catwoman, Joker, harley and many more.
Just apply my DCUO skin on top of those character builds and give the option to adjust the colors of the power/gadgets colors to match your DCUO story mode counterpart. That can update their DCUO to be a great experience for everyone who wants to create characters and run missions with friends. Play the game modes already incorporated in DCUO, including new and improved graphics that rivials cutscenes, missions inspired by other games such as Gotham Knights, Avengers and so on. Plus, giving the players a fighting game experience, with their own created characters skins from DCUO experience on top of an already stable foundation, injustice games characters to make add an extra level/game mode of funs for the community of DCUO.
That can possibly help boost their finances and knock 2 birds with 1 stone. Not only providing a free to play games but also utilizing already AAA games foundation into their free-to-play game to further pull in new players such as fighting game players base.

The only thing why I like game ratings is that when a game is rated AAA its like a little heads up that that game is a souless boring mediocre project with nice graphics made by a big company to grab some quick dough, funny that the Warner guy said that since live services is what is ruining games. If they don't want AAA games to be volatile they should focus on creating actual fun games like the ones they used to create, instead of investing in cash grabbing traps to add into their games.
if they are only focusing now in live service and mobile. good riddance I'm putting Warner in my shitty video game company blacklist along with EA and Ubisoft.

The fact that WB thinks that AAA has everything to do with cost and nothing to do with quality speaks volumes about how these executivs don't underdstand gaming.
Suicide Squad is a title where all that money was squanderd to make something that could have been churned out in half the time and at half the cost by one of the larger indie studios.
The fact that they think it's any easier to make good games on mobile reinforces that clear ignorance because mobile players have completely different appetites than console gamers and are even less likely to stick with a game when they're constantly hopping to the next newest title.

I don't know what kind of massive dumpster fire Warner Brothers is trying to salvage with these shady af strategies, but hopefully they learn from their mistakes and pick an IP they own that would work with the live service model. I wouldn't mind an updated DC universe online personally. But for now, maybe it's actually a good thing they're sticking with mobile.

Here's the thing, Hogwarts, MK1, and SSQKTJL are AAA games ruined not by the devs but WBD as well as canceled movies. It seems every move they make is specifically for the money. Cancel movies like Batwoman, for example, are tax write-offs, and as for the games, they have been littered with lots of microtransactions and limiting the devs to make actual good games. They've shown to be greedy and this is why their recent installments of games and cancel movies are stacking up.

It does seem like the AAA game approach is getting unsustainable, but I don’t think live service helps in most cases. I think if more games limited their scope to being strong AA games, and they were good at being games instead of also trying to be movies, the industry would be in a more stable place. And games wouldn’t have to make a gajillion dollars to make their budgets back and keep out-of-touch executives happy.

The biggest flop was arguably Suice Squad the live service league.
Also WB: single player doesnt work, lets focus more on Live service. At this point the company deserves to almost crash and burn, otherwise they wont fire theor CEOs like Nokia.

Step 2. Get rid of the DEI hires. Stop catering to psychos that wont buy your games anyway.
Step 3. We dont need 100 hour games. Make them deep, and first and foremost, make them fun.
Step 4. Focus on innovative new ideas.

the whole delisting games thing is exactly why I still buy physical copies of games instead of Steam or Epic games. I buy small stuff off Steam sometimes, but legally you dont own the game in that scenario. you basically just have a user end license, if its dropped from the online store, say goodbye to your money

In a way, (related to the Warner Bros. news) this is why offering hard copies of games should continue even if on a limited copy bases rather than omitting games altogether. I suppose between games and DC franchise properties; WB is just trying to stop the bleeding. even if they are separate divisions.

Man. forget Suicide Squad and WB. I'm just gonna play the Arkham games and ignore their live service crap. The only other thing I wanna see from them is Crisis on Infinite Earths for Kevin Conroy and WIll Friedle aka my favorite Bruce Wayne Batman and my favorite iteration of Batman.

Does that mean that Warner Brothers is going to completely remove games off of steam, even if you’ve purchased them I’ve heard of games getting delisted, but as long as you have previously purchased them, you could always re-download it, say if you got a new PC
