Depth of field effects ruin all that shiny stuff you want to enjoy - it literally applies a depth-based blur effect to up to 90% of the screen. It's also over-simulating one of the flaws inherent to the human eye / camera focal length. it's literally the last thing you should want when you build a PC for super-graphical-fidelity and effects. it just undoes most of that. Even the highest quality DOF features do this, too. Every once in a while it manages to simulate those focal effects you see in hollywood movies properly, but. when you consider how much of what you want to see it's hiding. most of the time, games look much better without Depth of Field.
Take a great screenshot with DOF on - then turn it off and take the same. Which looks better It's pretty much always going to be with DOF off - especially in a static screenshot.
Also, what's with the trend of LIKING short games with less content I would only care about how quickly a game was over if I hated playing it. It's. kind of crazy to me that people are equating having less time as an adult, with the need for. less content overall, haha.
I'll vouch for more INTERESTING content - but. less I think it's suicidal to your hobby if you start actually asking for that and devs start doing what you want, haha. It will quickly become one of those oh my God why did I think this was a good idea things, because you'll be out of stuff to enjoy within that hobby.
I'd rather not ever come to that point, but I'm also one of those immersion gamers who goes out of their way to prolong or draw out a good gaming experience. I've put hundreds of hours into games that tons of people only put 50 in - granted, I also load a game after work and then fall asleep immediately very often, so that hundreds of hours is. not as extreme as it probably sounds. still, I get maximum enjoyment out of a GOOD game, and I'm almost always sad when I can no longer have that experience.

Watch Dogs deserved the scolding that it got, simply because of how great the game was capable of being & how significant it would've been to our introduction to the next generation of gaming at the time. Instead, it was one of many huge disappointments & a product of deceptive business practices that have been plaguing gaming for years. Watch Dogs also serves as a cautionary tale for buyers to wait till after the game releases to see the final product of what's being shown to us. The Game wasn't horrible. Far from it. But the graphical downgrade really killed the immersion & just the thought of what people could've gotten vs what we really got is what killed the game. Had it not been for that little false advertisement, we would've had another big IP on our hands.

Since 2010, I had an earworm song stuck in my head. I did not know the lyrics; only the beat. It bothered me that I could only hum the tune. It was like this for 12 years, until I got a PS5.
I had this game sitting in my PS4 backlog.
To my surprise, Day N’ Night plays. My jaw drops and I’m like That’s the song! Holy F. That’s the song. Most importantly, who TF is Kid Cudi
Anyways. I was free of the curse and the land was peaceful once more.
EDIT: imo, the story the game weaves is more relevant now. Too many of our countryfolk domestic and abroad have fallen prey to curated information designed to influence them one way or another.

I didn't love WD1 the first time i played it, but it left a lasting impression, so i replayed it on a better GPU, and i fell in love with the setting, the story, the characters and the gameplay mechanics. I think i've replayed it 4 times already with the DLC and the Natural Lighting mod - i never found anything else that comes close to the experience of WD1 (i dislike GTA. Only with Cyberpunk 2077 now fixed, i think i can move on. But Watch_Dogs and all those memories will always be treasured.

The only problem I had with the story of watch dogs was it that killed Clara when she could have been a good companion to help grow Aiden's story. It just seemed like Ubisoft one such a kick of killing off female characters just for drama (thinking of assassin's Creed Black flag and Unity) that really pissed me off for how much they wasted storytelling potential
Also every time I play the original watch dogs makes me wish that there was a Dresden files video game

I was there, and i remember this, along with Gta 5, were my most anticipated games at the time! When i first played on PS3, there's just something off, but I'm not sure why.
I don't really do research back then so i only saw the E3 gameplay and i was expecting the graphics to be the same or similar on PS3. I don't remember hating it but i just know that something is off.
In the end, i managed to finish the game.

I honestly really enjoyed this game back when it was new. To be fair, I may have pirated it, so there was no financial commitment. But the GTA like style of game it is, but with hacking, was really fun. I put quite a few hours in screwing around after I finished the story.
I've played the second game, too, and I did not like it at all. So maybe I'm just weird. Haven't tried the newest one in London.

I love watch dogs 1 and LOVE watch dogs 2. Watch dogs 2 imo was improved in so many ways. And the world and npc interactions were awsome. Plus the great parkour and the seamless session joining and leaving. Game also looked so nice and vibrant. they definitely wanted to try something new with Legion. I guess they didn’t spread their focus and ideas well, causing the downfall of a cool idea.

10 years It’s so weird how I link my memories and longer periods of times to games as a 30-something guy. Oh man, 2008 feels like ages ago, GTA IV came out that year and I have so many vivid memories, or 2013! I remember that year because of Battlefield 4. Same with Watchdogs. Really liked that game, maybe it’s time for another playthrough ten years later (and with much less time hehe.

Isn't it a little depressing that you need 10 years of hardware advancement and STILL require janky mods to even get a game to remotely look like it was supposed to. I'm still glad I skipped this one. And excuse you Splinter Cell Blacklist looked amazing (still does, easily as good as Watch Dogs, just on a smaller scale, and doesn't require modding or a decade of patience from gamers.

Watch dogs had so much potential, both gameplay & storywise. Could have been better if it was in good hands. But They rushed it & bait the gamers.
Another Game ppl wished to be better
It's The Division.
I still watch that gameplay trailer.
Don't underestimate Ubisoft's ability to f-up something good in the process. Recent example Ac shadows.

I just finished my first play through a week or two ago and then started Watch Dogs 2. So far I like the gameplay of the second one better than the first because the gameplay of the first felt a little stiff. But the story of the first one is a bit better than the second cus the story in the second one seems a little all over the place.

I still remember that trailer.
however for me the most exciting part was the companion app.
sadly though I am unable to experience it, as by the time I was able to get and play the game, the app has already been gone or just me unable to find it.
and I kind of lost interest in it after playing halfway through.

Watch Dogs 1 is one of 3 single player games that I've played thr campaign of more than once. While the game isn't perfect, the atmosphere is AMAZING. You feel like a real life batman, saving the city in the shadows but in a realistic way. 2 had the better gameplay, 1 had the best story, and 3. well yeah.

it wasnt perfect but it was still one of my favourite games and still probably is. such a cool idea, hacking everything. i liked the city, the driving, the hacking, it was all good. i also liked the sequels but they felt different. the style of the first one was the best and i hope we could get more of that.

I remember when I found this game, I asked Gamestop for Sleeping Dogs and they gave this game. I didn't even notice until I started playing the game. But it wasn't a bad game until I beat it. I didnt like the GTA 3 aspect of everyone recognizing you and attacking or calling the cops in free roam.

Aside from the main gameplay, some of the digital trips are really great and not talked about enough imo. Alone in particular stands out as stellar to me; I used to put so many hours into it and would love to see how it looks with amped up lighting and graphics. Spider tank was a blast too

Imo, if they do a 4th game, it would be cool if they did a backstory for 1 & 2 and really explain dedsec, imo the whole bank robbery stuff in the first cutscene could be like a GTA 5 equivalent but for hacking ect. Could be a great game if done right nad they are willing to play the anti hero more so

No, seriously, I paid $10 for a used copy and had a blast one weekend after all the drama settled. There's so many games like that, like Cyberpunk etc that just get so much hype, but I'd always stick with some of those because they still ended up delivering something low-key awesome

I was fooled by this game and am not a PC player. This is the game that truly convinced gamers that Ubisoft shouldn't be trusted again. We think letting it go with Black Flag but ignoring AC3 and fooling ourselves here.
2013: a year of falsehoods that hurt us today.
