I get why Take-Two went with Grove Street Games. When they were previously War Drum Studios and released the mobile versions(which is what the ps3 and 360 version also were, they at least had experience with the series. The ps3 and 360 versions were also trash and everyone knew it, but people still bought em'. Along with who knows how many sales iphone and android had. Regardless if they were subpar ports, Take-Two clearly saw that and saw no reason to hire a new studio. Even though the definitive edition was rushed, it was always going to be bad because it's still the mobile versions of the games. Even if the game got an extra full year in the oven, it was still going to be come out half baked because that's what GSG/War Drum have always done.
That said, when you look at the update of whatever team at Rockstar just put out, is just a night and day difference to what GSG did in pretty much every way. It's still not perfect, of course not, but it's so much better.

As a musician, Rockstar doesn't wanna fork up the cash for the music. Prices have probably gone up since 2004, artists have probably died & it's now left in control of the estate/family & they may want more than what was originally bargained for, the only other reason i could think of that they wouldn't have the original soundtrack in the game besides cost is if the estate that owns the artist's music declined. which why would they if it was already in there before Also with the rise of these digital games being licensed to us themselves & not being permanently ours due to things like online only & other DRM specific things, they'd have to pay a perpetual fee to license the music for as long as the game was still available for sale. kinda like with the GTA 4 updates & how when they made everyone switch to the EFLC version, most of that soundtrack was gutted out too.

9: 36 Take Two can afford whatever, V made billions, but VC had a better soundtrack when it made far less money. It's Take Two who tell R what to do. Basically, make GTAO DLC to encourage Shark card microtransactions, and stopped them making story DLC (RDR2 especially needed an Undead Nightmare 2, and that was a terrible business decision not to. Also, limited the GTAV/O soundtrack to 90% cheapo unsigned unknown artists - hence why GTAVI is modern VC and not '80s VC, thus deliberately doing a bait and switch to give us another awful, cheap, bloated soundtrack. The '80s music, era, and radio humour was what made VC great. Sad T2 got so greedy.

mixed feelings. the original GTA San Andreas 1. 0 on PS2 had already unique coloring weather types effects. From the hot haze in LS, thunderstorms in badlands, unique fog effect on the bay area of San Fierro, Sandstorm in the desert and the high light pollution effect at night in Las Venturas. The PC port already in 2005 lost some effects and had wrong weather colors in bad lands. During thunderstorm the sky turns red.
I know PC has always better graphic but for me GTA San Andreas on PS2 is the completiest version regarding the effects

Tired of how now a days every game is a unfinished product and we let it happen we have to hold these companies liable we should not support this crap and you can’t give excuses to triple A companies when you have indie games being made by one person and some of them quality wise are up there so no excuse for a team to not be able to accomplish it

As for the soundtrack, I personally loved the fact that you could upload your own playlist into the game file. I still remember the moments from the game everytime I hear a song I chose in the playlist. I hope, it's still possible. I didn't get the definitive edition when it was released because it looked so bad. So maybe I'll give it a shot now.

I still don’t understand why they decided to keep the Bully-like graphics if you enjoy boxy graphics and hands that don’t look like hands, feel free to go back to the original games, but no one wants these outdated graphics, they should, at the very least, make the graphics a lot better or implement a nostalgia mode and a modern mode.

I hope GTA VI is the last straw for everyone, if that game doesn’t live up to the hype then we have to let rockstar die. They’ve proven time and time again they don’t care about the community and are cocky enough to not release another GTA VI trailer because they know the hype it has. This truly will be make or break for rockstar as a whole

It needed remake not remaster. Those animations are obsolete and they look awful. Textures do not have depth, look flat, shading also, hands, arms, gym animations, all look dated and terrible. I mean if i want that i have those in originals, this should have been updated to nowdays standards. Definitely its most DEFECTIVE remaster ever.

I decided to hold out on playing San Andreas after playing through 3 and Vice city for this very reason so I'm glad they finally wised up and fixed it. Such a shame Rockstar even let them get released in that state. Their legacy is built off of these games. that PS2 era are such core memories for me.

I’ve got indispensable cash I won’t buy this tbh
Rockstar games were the industry’s standard they are filth now.
Money grabbers but back in the day they cared with content and I’d part with my money.
GTA 6 I will look at reviews because I don’t trust them now.

Atleast they didn't update it like they did GTA IV, Where the update merged the main game with DLC, took out multiplayer and made it impossible for a vast majority of the playerbase to drive cars without stuttering and reach 25fps. Before abandoning it, and never fixing it mind you.

I kinda wish everyone would stop complaining. Especially since everyone is going to buy gta6 no matter what. Yea it sucks. Rockstar took money to put it into a newer game more than likely. It's not like this tarnished them from getting your money with gta 6.

So is the pool bug still a thing It's a bug where when you walk into a place to play pool, they person walks away from the table and everyone acts like you pointed a gun twords them. Locking you out of being ablw to play pool on that save file

This comment section in a nutshell:
Regardless of how much the game has improved, you're not allowed to like this collection either way, because we elitist GTA nostalgiatards say so.
Seriously, get a life, you sad sacks.

I've said since day one of the definitive release that none of the cars have reverse lights. It's still not fixed even after the update. I don't know how something like that is looked over and released and not fixed to this day.

Let me know when I can play the DE on the same pc as I can play the originals and not have to upgrade. The most disappointing thing for me is the upscaling in spec requirements to run these 20 year old games. It's ridiculous.

5: 55 - Best foreshadowing ever in a game that big smoke was a villian. Tries to attack Cj in his own home right at the start then throws the baseball bat on the photoframe of Cjs mom, you can even hear the glass breaking.

Why they don't just add new music instead, any 80s'-90s'-20s' that they can convince to get the rights, or compose their own music like the songs of Love Fist, adding few songs on each stations, I don't mind if they do that
reply

It would take a ton of work but if they did covers of the original songs, they could put them in the game no problem. They did have a complete band for Vice City so I don't think it would be too difficult for them to do.
