As an example for the video with your phone camera I have been doing some short, looping, stopmotion videos with an app called Vine. You can record only up to six second of video, or take about 140 photographs that then the app puts together creating the video. The format is always 480x480. Despite the conditions could seem to be very restrictive, actually it makes the good videos look great because the autor can fit a whole story in a short video.

Griffin, Russell. with respect to the film fight and networking there is one thing which I am concerned: everybody looked well under 50. As an older film enthusiast I immediately noticed your group was easily 20 years younger than myself, easily. That is kind of intimidating. My question: should the 'old guy' stay at the nursing home or could a geriatric relic like myself feel a sense of inclusion should he consider coming to the film fight in 2014. Any feedback on that would be welcome. :-)

Problem is, I live in a city where I don't know anybody who makes films, and the videos that ARE made by people are often just corporate/industrial. I love the idea of Film Fights. How can I meet with people near me to collaborate on filmmaking? I want to film more than weddings and stuff in my backyard: I need PEOPLE.

I feel the exact same way. I am a really old guy of 52. And make historical documentaries for Libraries, Historical groups, museums, etc. Though I could not stay young I managed (to my wife's disappointment) to stay immature. I had made my own movies using film and super 8 mm, then vhs, etc. Now I have the time but everyone is so much younger I really feel out of place. We need a Sr's Indy Mogul

I am missing Russ' 101 episodes that he was doing about his short movie. I was learning a lot so I really hope you take the time to let him finish at least that subject. I know film riot is doing the same now, but it was something I think a lot of us were learning from, not just more facts about new cameras. Love your show but just keep in mind how much we also loved 101

Sorry no, I have discussed with 3 linguistics majors about the 'jif' thing, both or phonetically accepted, and technically both are correct. 'Jif' is what the inventors called it, but back then, before it was accepted, they were wrong; both are only correct now because both are commonly used. The hard 'g' makes more sense phonetically though considering the acronym.

Although this doesn't directly relate to your question, as an avid viewer of indy films and short films I am always interested in viewing films not made by people in my age group (upper 20s.
That's what I love about short films, I always have time to watch a few and it's great to see a diversity of writers/directors making them.

Haha what's so funny about Griffin saying you could probably shoot a whole a film on a phone is that Im working on a professional shoot right now and the whole thing's being shot a Nokia. And hopefully next FFCon we'll have an even more overseas filmfighters, instead of just America, Canada and me from England

(Of course I'm not the best artist on Vine) The unique think stranger about Vine is that it is only an app. You can play several videos on your computer or in your cell, but there isn't a website where you can explore or look for an specific video.
BTW the new episodes of Indy Mogul look great!

GIF - I read that the inventor pronounces it JIF - not the first time someone dabbled outside their area of expertise. It stands for Graphics Interchange Format which, to me, calls for a hard G. If it were Giraffe Info Format I would go along with the soft G/J

I have a T3i, I love it. Its great for video and for shooting stills. It shoots video in 1080p at 30fps, with 18 megapixels for stills and such. So if you get a nice lens for it you can get some really good shots.
