I can absolutely relate to the situation regarding carts to get your stuff to your table. Have had that at one little event a number of times. So last time I brought a cart with me - that was an absolute lifesaver. I could throw all my stuff on it and be in/out in literally 5 minutes instead of blocking the loading area for half an hour. For next year I got myself a huge-a$$ Peli case with wheels off eBay that should fit everything plus the kitchen sink. (That case it was the type of accident purchase that happens if you don't check the measurements before hitting buy. but it worked in my favour. A Peli 1690 for less than 100 bucks plus shipping is a pretty OK deal IMO. But my face must have been pretty priceless when the delivery showed up)

Being from the Midwest, myself, I get the feeling that the organizers are still in the flea market mode, where what happens happens and you deal with it at an individual level, but you're absolutely right: having 6000 people going through your booths is absolutely past the point for having security present. for traffic control, if nothing else.
. that said, I do have a practical question, as I've never had cause to put up a display like this before: would it be prudent to charge up a UPS at home and bring it with you to plug all of your hardware into If only to prevent brownouts when everything turns on.

VCF Montreal is being held at the Royal Military College of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC in January. It's about a 1 hour drive east of MontreaL Visitor tickets are C$30 presale and C$40 at the door for 1 day. C$60 or C$80 for two days. This is way too expensive, especially since the majority of visitors have a drive by car to get there. If you go for two days then you have to drive back and forth twice. The Royal Military College is also owned by the federal government, therefore tax payer funded. Therefore I don't understand why the tickets are so expensive. They should be half the price.

: D - Will you be showing some of the items you were donated (in an 'unboxing' type video) Just wondering, as I think it would be interesting to see/hear what items you got. Just a thought. (Shame you weren't able to go around the venue yourself as I'm sure this would have been amazing for you, and you'd have seen loads of great unique/rare stuff too. Just saying!

Man, I love your intro sounds so much. it automatically sends an endorphin shot right to my brain! Seriously, thanks for your videos, and I'm glad that little by little you've been able to put the hurricane disaster behind you. You now have a renovated space, and surely you are now a renovated Clint! Greetings from Argentina!

Definitely agree there should be security at a show this size, especially in the US and especially with the country being as on edge as it has been in the last decade.
Cool to see all the footage Luke was able to get while you were at the table. There's so much cool stuff and i'd love to go at some point.

my only issue of up there in Schaumburg is hotels over there are VERY expensive. They hold an audio show there every spring I think in the same hotel and staying there is quite expensive. I may go up to this or the audio show next year and hope the sticker shock of the hotel room isn't too big a deal.

Did you film anything from KnobCon That would be fascinating! I'm not an electronic music creator, but I do enjoy tweaking knobs and making beeps and blips. Love your content Clint, thanks for entertaining us basement dwellers around the world for so many years. Much love from Australia (Astraya.

Can confirm that CEC and Showbiz Pizza used the same/similar hardware to run the audio and motions of the animatronics (which used compressed air. Each night, after closing, the air valve would be bled and the animatronics would twitch as they slowly went limp.
Make of that what you will.

9: 10 Lol, that Adventrures of Microman floppy disk is rad! I remember playing the shareware version on my dads PC, and IMMEDIATLY after completing it, I wanted the whole game! I can't seem to find it anywhere, and a bell rings that he didn't finish the game But I don't know if that's true.

I wonder if any upcoming show will manage to display a working TI-980B mini-computer I worked on one of these beasts back in the late 1980s and was blown away by the black satin finish, the super-chromed toggle switches and the array of softly-flashing LEDs. A genuine work of art.

LOL, I built Vintage computers back when they were not vintage. All I remember thinking is, I can't wait until these things get better and faster! Fast forward to today I now build Truly fast computers and have 0 desire to own a vintage computer. Let the past rest in peace.

11: 34 the Delta 88 Royale poster & steering column are totally my vibe (my dad is a lifelong Oldsmobile nut & it definitely rubbed off, but the ancient diagnostic equipment has me absolutely terrified. Thank god for OBD2 at this point!

Seeing a place like that gives me the urge to tinker. Then I remember that none of that is mine. But, hey, that's not a bad thing. Gives me more incentive to get me some! I hope it does for others too. Looks like a blast - hope it was!

RetroTechUK at the Birmingham NEC in England is pretty big with 150 stalls if you’re ever in the UK, it usually runs every May. NEC is a big place as it’s purely for conventions such a comic con, Crufts, The Motor Show, Gadget show etc.

I am looking for any and all legacy Developer software and programming tools that I can find, if anyone has them and does not want them or willing to part ways with them. I would be glad to review them and keep them safe.

I also attend a convention that recently outgrew its old digs and moved to [one building of] the largest convention center in the city. SO MUCH BETTER! There's so much more room for activities! Lol. It's also so much safer.
