Time to talk about the original entry in one of the most iconic series of all time! Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game from Interplay in 1997 Ben: As much as I adore this game I do feel the need to express my displeasure with how some of the endings were determined. First off, getting the good ending for the hub is impossible because of the cut content required to get it. Secondly you'll automatically get the bad shady sands ending if you beat the game after 230 days. You get the water chip and think that you won't be on the clock anymore, rescue Tandi, get rid of the radscorpions, find the poison cure, and you can still get the bad ending because you actually took the time to play the game a little more. Taking extra time to play the game and do some good deeds for each town should not negate those acts of good. Overall a great game but a rather frustrating ending I got.

I never understood why the older fallouts are so shitty gameplaywise. They had everything in their favor with meaty death animations, cool sounds for weapons and weapon variety. Fallout 1 and specially Fallout 2 are so horrible when it comes to shooting that even diplomatic options with a combat optimized character are always more sensible than actually using your gun. Its like every weapon deals really low damage and always misses, even when they are in front of you. The rest of the game is masterpiece like but the shooting bogs it down so much I'd say that I dont recommend them in any way or form.

Honestly I don't get the hate for Fallout 3 onward. I never played Fallout 1 or 2 but it seems to me like Bethesda did a pretty good job of taking a top-down turn-based strategy game (I hate those) into a 3rd person sandbox adventure. There are so many similarities between this and the later games, it's unrealistic to expect anything different! The style of Fallout 1 and 2 would never be as successful as Fallout 3 etc has been simply because gamers have gotten used to playing shooters or regular RPG's. To me, Fallout 3 and 4 (haven't played much of New Vegas) are a great combination of both.

The first RPG I've ever played. I often put the soundtrack on just to sleep to it. When Fallout 2 came out, I went crazy, playing for days, over and over to find all the quests and secrets. when Van Buren was announced, I was looking sooo forward to it. Too bad it never officially released. I hope the Van Buren fan project finishes. because, let's face it, every Fallout game from Tactics till today, sucks. I've played F3, New Vegas AND F4, but I never liked it as much as the original. the only game I could compare Fallout to, was Arcanum. Underrated game as well.

One of the best things about the OG Fallouts compared to the rest in my opinion is 1) how little we know about the world before the nukes and 2) how the retro-futuristic aesthetic is really toned down compare to other entries in the franchise. The world in Fallout 1 is mysterious and later games ruin that explaining too much and showing too much. It just ruins the believability of the setting really and turns it into caricature of itself.

I often forget how fantastic the original 'Fallout' games were. Honestly, I almost wouldn't mind seeing a -return to form/return to their roots- with the 'Fallout' series. Especially considering the garbage that was 'Fallout 76'. It would just be nice having a decent 'Fallout' game! I completely forgot about the treasure that is, Ron Perlman, doing some voice-over work in the game. That guy is freaking awesome! Lol

Uggh, as interesting as the world was, the damage spread of fallout still bothers me to this day, especially when other games of the time got it right.
As a wise man once said, -if a machine gun can-t reliably tear someone into gibs at point blank range, then it-s the game that is wrong! -
(Before someone jumps down my throat and tells me -that you can! - The word I-m focussing on here is --reliably--)

Such an old video, but I cannot resist, I have to say it is not an oblique projection, it is trimetric. If it were oblique the -front- walls would be parallel with the screen bottom and top, but they are at 15 degrees and the other walls are at 45 degrees. I should do a screen shot and measure them, but those are the angles used in trimetric projections.

Dude, i sign under ur every word.
Omg, the time i spent getting to know f1, then there was f2, one of the best sequels ever made, although it sacrifised its dark side. yeah f2 is more a wild ride, comparing to f1, but in my opinion, f1 is the papa. F2 -its wild kid. F3 - a disgrace. F4-a humiliation.
-You cant understand the wasteland-

And from then on Bethesda dumbed down the dialogue in Fallout 3 and entirely removed the Trait and Skill system in Fallout 4. Such over-rated games, i don't get how Fallout 3 received positive reviews in the first place, the people who played it (at least the majority) clearly never played the previous two that are gameplay-wise superior.
