No real commentary here, just screwing around in Project CARS for a bit! Click here to see my review of the Vive unreliableemployee: When I play racing games I prefer third person perspective on it. With the the Vive do you feel like it helps take the disconnect you get from racing games away so you feel more aware of your speed and how the car is handling especially in first person prospective?

Dude! That looks freaking awesome! Are you able to use the Vive with regular games not made for it? I imagine that a game like the new Doom wouldn't track your head, but it seems like it would still be an amazing experience to see it in 3d with that thing! Is it possible?

Are you shifting manually? I can't really tell.
Also, how easily does your hand access any buttons on the wheel while using a VR headset? When I drive, I usually do a quick glance down to see what I'm pressing. Is it difficult to do so with a headset?

Now this make me really want to play some Tron/Johny Quest -esque, light cycle materializing around you, speeding around on the eleveated roads of a dark future city, weird monsters and robot cars chasing you with a sawblades and such craziness.

Racing sims are probably the only type of game I'd be interested to play with VR. Here it really enhances the experience, it serves the game, and VR is totally the logical improvement racing games needed. For other genres though? Gimmicky as hell.

I would really like to see Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator in VR with the Vive. It might not be the most exiting thing in the world but it would be the closest thing to driving a truck without actually driving one.

My fav track in NR2003 and GTR2. I was never really interested in VR until seeing this. hopefully I can do this on PS4 too one day. With VR you can do the Luigi death stare for real every time you make a pass on the inside.

That looks pretty cool, though just a question, how much does that VR headset, the wheel and the PC running the game(My current PC an probably run the game at medium at 1440 maybe) at those settings cost?
reply

Driving games with a wheel is literally the only practical application of VR I can think of which doesn't involve either moving around like that Valve system or holding a control, which breaks the immersion.

I've just realised.
Does this make simulation cockpits that people make at home pretty useless now since the whole point was to be in that f1 car and drive as realistic as possible? Because now we have VR.
