At long last, there's a Forza Motorsport game on the PC! It's for Windows 10 and DirectX 12 only, but still, it's about time. Taking a look at the feature set of the May 2016 beta!

I used to be very PO'ed a the Idea of Microsoft releasing a -port- of Forza Motorsport 6 to the PC that had less content than the Xbox One version, but after much thinking, I now feel that it's not too far fetched to view this as -Forza Motorsport 7: Prologue-.
Forza's main rival (the Gran Turismo series) released -Prologue- versions of it's 4th and 5th games that had much less content than the full games they preceded, but were too big to be considered simple -demos- (which is why they were given full retail releases. Since Microsoft is apparently trying to make every future Xbox One -exclusive- playable on PC with their -Xbox Play Anywhere- initiative, and the latest game in the Forza Horizon spinoff series had an official PC port because of it, it's only natural to assume that the same will happen to Forza Motorsport 7, with Forza 6 Apex being a little sampler for PC gamers new to the franchise so they could get hyped up for it.

The fact you get so much for free is amazing. It could have been just one car and one track with everything else as a microtransaction but 60+ cars and multiple tracks all weighing in at about 20+ GB for FREE! The complaints about the missing features in this video are not really complaints for me because I don't really use those features anyways. Also if you don't like micro transactions, you can get the -Premium- version of the game for $16. 99. I think this is a great option for PCs that can run it. Heads and tails above all the other -free- racing games in the Windows 10 store.

I have downloaded Windows 10 simply for the reason of it being free and knowing that eventually I'll need it anyway if I want to use the new DirectX versions.
Forza Apex is nice to have but nothing extraordinary to me. Personally I think that the car collection is sufficient and I don't need tuning or extensive painting of cars. However the amount of tracks is laughable. Referring to the microtransactions it didn't feel to me as if I need them.
Overall the game is a nice test, but not much more. At least pc demos are coming back (Forza Horizon 3.

pass. this is a joke. Id rather play some ipad game. Honestly.
I already have windows 10, am a racing fan, and wont even consider this. ill go play project cars and iraciing. This might pass as a quality game on console, but PC players have way better than this joke already.
Sure, for free this is alright, but how much will you have to spend on microtranactions to make it as competant as Asseto Corsa? I would bet AT LEAST 80 bucks. for all the tracks and cars you know youll want. Go buy assetto corsa or pCars on steam when they are on sale.

I played forza 6 a fair bit a long time ago on my old Xbox one. It was alright. I wasn-t as much into the more realistic side of racing games. Preferred an arcade racer. But I got this the other day and it-s great. Actually having the challenge of controlling your car to stay on the track is challenging but engaging. Also the graphics stand up. It-s especially great playing it at 120+ fps in hdr. It-s definitely lacking considering it-s big boy brother forza 6, but apex is a great game I-d say. :)

I was going to slam it for not having steering wheel support out of the gate (and I still think it's quite mind-boggling considering it's a Forza game) but I'll give it a pass considering it's actually free. We tend to expect too much out of free stuff these days, so I'll just sit back and be greatful this actually exists at all.
Hadn't this been out on Xbone already I bet it would've been huge.

I think it pays to keep in mind that F6 Apex is essentially a testing run for the engine on UWP and we'll get feature-parity and full-fledged PC versions of forthcoming Forza games starting with Horizon 3 this fall. Making this tech demo available to the public is more of a marketing and awareness move than a game release, so judging this next to Motorsport 6 is missing the point completely.

I wonder if the fact that the game is a free cut down version of forza 6 is because they are just using it to beta test the engine on the PC? instead of devoting a ton of time into developing a PC port of forza 6 they just made this little test game so that the engine for forza horizon 3 or what ever can be PC tested without really devoting much time and effort towards a port.

>limited number of tracks and cars
>no garage or livery editor
This looks like Forza's equivalent to GTPSP (although GTPSP had 800 cars and a shit load of tracks)
Also, the iconic Top Gear test track is no longer in vogue after the three previous hosts quit (ok, one of them was sacked the other two quit. Can it be another test track in the future?

Looks like Microsoft is trying to turn this torso of a game into the -Killer app- that forces people to upgrade to Win10. But the problem is, it is Win10. Not many are ready to pull their pants down and bend over for just one game. Which will mean Forza 6 Apex will most likely be killed off after a short period of time due to lack of players.
