Ever wanted to play first-person shooters on a monochrome graphing calculator screen? Well now you can! Or rather, you could for over a decade but I'm just now making a video on how to, ha. - Links to the sites and resources used: TI-Connect Graph Link Software TI-83+ v1. 19 OS upgrade MirageOS Ion zDoom zTetris Jezzball Super Mario

a few notes. Early ti92 and 83 didn-t have official support for assembly language programs, that came later on. These early ones actually required some hack to make them install and work, if I recall the thing was called Fargo. Sound was available in many apps and games by plugging a speaker into the serial port. Shitty but could play some low fi wave files and game sounds. The cpu is a motorola 68k derivative (specifically a mc68000)

I remember playing these games in math class mostly on a TI-83 Plus Silver Edition that I won in a math competition. Later on in high school I tried some of the same games on a lower grade TI-83, I can't remember if it was plus or not, the games ran much slower on the non silver edition making pac-man much slower and more playable. I wonder if doom would be faster and more playable on the silver edition.

When I was in high school, I had a TI-82 and being the massive nerd I am, I learned how to use TI Basic and wrote programs and a few games on my calculator. My best story was I was a TA for a math teacher I had a few years before and I showed her the tic-tac-toe game I made and her reaction was to give me her graphic calculator and told me to put it on hers.

Know this is an old video, but this brings back memories. Remember programing my own RPG/RPG engine on one of those, dun remember the exact model, but that was some fun old times. Even used that engine as a dice replacement on classic DnD for a while as a friend kept loosing dice somehow, 7 sessions if memory serves me right.

I remember when i was a freshman in high school in 2014 one of my classmates had this calculator and gamed on it during class. His older brother had the calculator for a long time and put the games on it. Most of us had the newer ti 84 and paid the 100 bucks for it new and were so confused by it. -

I cannot remember what settings I went to, but basically you could -draw- on there and whenever that program was entered, you art was saved (unless you hit clear)
I made some absolutely fantastic pieces and even impressed a very annoyed teacher at one point

Oh and if you want to do this easy try to get a ti84 (i have a ti84 plus silver edition) and it has just micro USB and you just plug it in, Oh and not to mention its faster and has a WAY better screen

Asian parent: -No, I will not buy you Nintendo Switch or an iPad. You will study hard and nothing else. -
Son: -Oh. Well can you buy me a scientific calculator? -
Asian parent: Yes. Good boy! -
Son: him

I had Wolfenstein 3D on mine. also had a decent port of Super Mario Bros and like a beta of Metroid. I also wrote a few of my own programs. I have the cord still somewhere. The TI-83 was a pretty cool machine.
