LGR - Opening More Stuff You Sent Me!
video description
He was telling me all about what they used to program and operate CT scanners in the late 70s and early 80s. a Data General S200! It was nearly as big as a washing machine and ran inch-wide tape through vacuum tubes to read and write data. It had to be in a refrigerated room to keep from overheating and was obnoxiously loud! I can't remember the specs but it was really incredible for its time, it was made specifically for science and medicine and was really some of the most powerful hardware that existed in its day. He apparently kept some hard disks and tape reals from it, but they've been lost at some point, which sucks cause I would've loved to send them to you! :(
Apparently GE threw the machines all away years ago, which really hurts my heart since they're such amazing pieces of computing history. Apparently they consumed so much power that they're impossible to run in a home situation, they need some kind of rediculous mainframe to even work.
He's going to ask around to see if anyone he worked with has any parts we could send to you! They were never sold to the general public so I can't imagine they come up for sale very often.
Keep up the good work! Cheers from Dad and I!

Oh wow, Battery Check. Now that brings back memories. Remember not being able to beat it until many years later just to get a disapointing ending that was even more disappointing when I read the manual and found out the message you get at the end was a sentence you would sent in for a contest to win stuff. Only this contest ended a few years prior to me finally beating it.

LGR which Laser Disc player do you have?
I worked for an electronics repair shop for about 7 years and my favorite piece of equipment to work on was the Pioneer Laser disc players. The ones with the auto flipping laser to read both sides without removing the disc were always so challenging but when fixed they are so enjoyable. I really wished I would have kept one.

You should review the After Dark Games collection. I love those games and played the hell out of them as a kid. Also it seems like something that would be right up your alley (I'm kinda surprised you haven't lol. Also Platypus I and II are both super unique side scrolling shooters I think you'd like because the graphics are all clay sculpted (Like Neverhood.

Hey Lazy Game Reviews Can you please review Saints Row 2? It's available on Steam and is known to be the worst pc port but there is a mod which fixes it and adds a bunch of other stuff and I was wondering what you thought of the game and thought it would be entertaining (if you do review it try to make Duke Nukem the customization is insane)

I remember for a while the saying -Microsoft Works is dead- being said a lot around where I live. I didn't quite understand it at the time, but I think it meant that it didn't work correctly so people would uninstall it and never touch it again. Either way, that program is very old now. I wonder if Bill Gates even remembers it? =P

Battery Check! I remember that one! It was a campaign to encourage people to hand in empty batteries more for recycling. The front says -Gratis CD-ROM bij inlevering van 15 lege batterijen- - -Free CD-ROM with handing in 15 empty batteries-. I think I still have one of those too. Not sure.

That fluffy cool packaging comes inside those Home Chef meal boxes. We just started ordering from there and you're right, that packaging is pretty cool. If you pull it out of the plastic, it looks like that insulation made out of blue jeans or different colors of cotton.

Remember Okidata? If I still had my color printer from 1989 I would send it to you. 256 colors! I used to draw pictures pixel by pixel on my Commodore 128. Sold the whole thing (two floppy drives, color monitor, printer and computer) for $100 in 1995. Wish I kept it.
