Taking a look back at the first Lego racing game on the PC from back in 1999! Classic arcade-style kart racing with power-ups that you can power up with more power-ups. Awesome

this game was life back in the day. my lil bro, older sister and i would play all at the same time on the same keyboard haha. one controlling acceleration and breaking and calling the shots. one steering and one using the power ups. we would have to all play as one and call out when we were turning or breaking, when to use power ups so you didnt come out of a worm hole into a wall. (quick tip: using a wormhole still drives you around the track even though the wormhole is on your screen. it just does it really fast and it always takes you through the tracks short cuts if possible) many a time did we come out of a lvl 3 green block portal into a dark corner if someone used it at the wrong spot in the track hahaah. getting ass blasted by cannon happy redbeard if someone missed denying the red bricks with him hot on our trail. not getting the starting 321 boost or messing up drifts hahah soooo good had many an argument over who lost us the race hahah good times

Also, and I've asked this on every Lego Racers video I've seen (and I've seen at least one video trying to answer this question without any luck, but does ANYONE know if you can access the shortcut on that one pirate level? The one that takes place at night, later into the game. There's a big skull blocking the entrance to a structure in the second half of the level; the skull clearly has seams as if it was made out of four separate meshes and was intended to break/open, and there's even a short section of road visible behind it, yet I've never been able to figure out if a shortcut exists, if it was dummied out or if there really is nothing behind that skull!

Confirmed. My brother and I booted it up again. Very nice memories, enjoyed the whole game again, test track inclusive. We took turns. I got the rocket start almost every time. But when I had to drive a race, I often messed up waiting so long for the right bricks to come. But later I figured it out. I think we took about 1 hour to finish the game again, but it was the best hour and the nicest memories. Really cool game, still in 2020.

I loved this playing Lego Racers on the N64 when I was younger.
But, man, I don-t know how I did it.
I couldn-t save my game since I didn-t have a memory pak, so I would leave the N64 on overnight just so I could beat Rocket Racer (or whatever the final racer is called.
And the game is incredibly hard to play, especially since now my N64 controller-s degraded and stopped working properly.

My dad gave me one of those Windows 95 or earlier (I don't remember what model. Lego Island and Racers were the first game on there.
Me and my brother would play this game all the time. That was so much fun. It even got to the point where we would always try to beat eachother by time.
I miss those days all those years ago.

I liked this game more than Mario kart at the time. There I said it. The items and item level up system made the game way more engaging and fun than Mario kart. No to mention it doesn-t artificially slow you down once you-re in front to keep the race always close.

This one is super nostalgic for me, I went back a couple months ago and was also surprised and the difficulty. This and the early hot wheels games really encouraged long play sessions and having friends come over to help beat the game. Very good times

Still among my favorite games of all time. Partially because of nostalgia and a love of Lego, but I played through it again not long ago and it's still really fun. Definitely a game that deserves another sequel. Next up I gotta try Rock Raiders again.
