What Really Went Wrong With King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword? amaitilasso: I was so looking forward to this movie and so disappointed. It felt like a non comedic A Knights Tale. The dialog was too modern, for example when Arthur says Come on fellows, chop chop. The dialog was poorly written and the cinematography was distracting and felt like one of those old amusement park 360 attractions. I guess it was supposed to make you feel like you were right there in the action instead it just made you carsick. If ticket prices weren't about the same as a small sedan I would have walked out. I don't understand why they have to try and put a modern twist on classic stories. The only way they could have made it worse is if they tried to match the setting to the modern dialog and set it in modern times. No offense to all of you who liked it. Different tastes for different people. Hell a lot of people liked A Passage To India too.

I wanted a new better retelling of the tale with better acting and better effects, I didn't want a new spin on the story, the story is already beautiful and amazing, it didn't need to be revamped, or changed, that's one of my biggest problem with the movie.
The biggest part of Arthurian stories I loved is the story telling, and that's what I wanted, a story, not an action flick, and that is what it feels like I got with this movie. I just feel the movie was way to over done, and the film style just didn't fit the tale of Arthur to me, but hey, to each there own.
I am posted my opinion as someone who loves the tale, but did not like this movie. I don't know if others who disliked the movie feel exactly how I felt, but these are the reasons why I just couldn't find enjoyment in watching this.

I tried to watch Arthur legend of the sword. I really tried, but this. this should not exist. It has the plot quality of jast Jedi, comedy of Adam Sandlers jack and Jill, scene sequencing of arrival (but with less context, cinematography of clover field, and the action of spy kids. Did I mention it has Jabba the hutts inbred grandmother as a mermaid squid thing? Ive seen better quality storytelling in Madlibs, better acting in infomercials, and better action from captain underpants books. Best scene is the final battle, But even that just feels like a video game quick time event without the button press icons visible. Terrible movie.

I got news for you most people I know who have seen legend of the sword love it. It came out at the wrong time which is why it lost money however I guarantee you in DVD sales alone and Blu-ray sales they more than made up for that. I think it's a great movie I hate girly girl movies and I'm a girl. If I go to the box office I want to see something great like Mummy Returns or this version of King Arthur in fact it is the only version of King Arthur I will watch the other ones I despise due to the fact it's just a lovey dovey bullcrap story I am Joy something like this and I feel so sorry for people who don't

Total bs - they say we don't need King Arthur when we have GoT and Vikings? What if we watched both series already and need something to fill that gap? They literally put up no, NO valid or logical point. Except for generic characters maybe. Etc we're they eben trying to say/prove with the mage being weak when it comes to physical combat? Of course, ffs, she's a mage, not a brawler, what did you expect? Also the movie had amazing soundtracks, awesome effects and Aiden Gillen (yes, all of these are valid reasons why the movie was awesome)

Its odd that the best movies often are ripped by the critics and don't make a lot of money while mindless rubbish movies - you know which ones I'm talking about - make predictably huge profits. It may have something to do with promotion as it seems you can make any movie successful just by pumping it up. The lesson? To make the most profits - spend all your capital on promotion, not production. I never even heard of King Arthur till I saw it and realized what a jem it is.

The story is very interesting. To me the problem is in the script and musical background. You see, you can't adorn such an intense, serious, intriguing story with some comically optimistic music and dialogues. The story line is based on the sort of ancient era but look at the words characters chose. You know words like staff, team and else are not words people used in old ages. Just think it simply, can you combine Lord of the Rings with Star Trek? You cannot do that.

my only issue was the movie was with Merlin's character in a whole-- He's a huge part of the Arthurian legends and yet he's in the film for like what five minutes? Idk. I did sorta like watching this King Arthur film, it wasn't terrible. I just wished we got to see more of Merlin as well as characters like Morgana who really make the story interesting (I know she played quite a big -sorta- part in the film, but it still felt as if she was pushed to the side a little)

I'm Kelt from Britany, Arthur is one of mine legendary kings like Conan of Meriadec(not conan the barbarian) this movie it's not the legend of excalibur, just a piece of shit and shame. With an other name it can be a good TV movie, only the special effects are correct. no respect of the story and the most important characters like Merlin, lancelot, . And it's sure that you find kung fu school and black man in Britain from III to XV centuries.

This movie, is as close to perfect as any movie can be. The director is a true genious in his craft. Absolutely original experimentation and personal flare with many influences unafraid to try new things. And most if not all came together beautifully. Just from the introduction, I could tell I was in for a masterpiece. And in my opinion, it was, in so many ways.
