The part about religious groups sending death threats to Linda Blair is what really just baffles me. She is an actor for the love of Pete! She is reading a script and is doing exactly what she is expected to do, which is act like you're possessed by a demon. And the religious freaks want her killed? Now, even if she was glorifying the devil off set in her own private life, that is still her constitutionally protected right to do so. That is why these religious fanatics are slowly losing. No common sense, a holier than thou attitude and intolerance. When religion is finally abolished, it will be a grand day.

My mom is terrified of seeing the excorsist face, Im 19 born in 200. My mom said a long time ago her friend and her were watching this movie downstairs & she knew fershure the door was locked top and bottom, I guess when the excorsist face popped up the door slammed open & remind you this was at night. Another time was when her and my dad were watching this movie, at the same part of the movie where the door slammed open, the movie had froze & the DVD player just stopped working and the tv wouldnt turn off. My dad had to take apart the DVD player to get the movie out, I want to hear peoples creepy stories!

Eh well the movie was enjoyable but not terrifying or near to be scary i laughed a few times actually. Might just be because i am not a religious or superstitious. Watched it 2 times, once when i was much younger and once recently to revisit old titles. Besides movies like that supposedly based on real events which were not witnessed by anyone other that the story tellers and cannot ever be verified are full of shit but enjoyable to sci-fi takers.

I was excited when this movie was re-released in theaters a while back. I had never watched it on TV or anything, so I thought it would be cool to get to see it for the first time in theaters. But I started to worry that it might be too horrifying, since a lot of people call it the scariest movie ever made. I even had a nightmare about not being able to handle it. Then when I did finally see it, I did not find it scary at all.

I saw the Original Exorcist with the Subliminal monsters embedded in it. I was so terrified ( 1973) that I lost 12 pounds. I was a waitress in the evening at the time and petrified to drive home. I was absolutely traumatized.
And yes. People were screaming, passing out and running from the theater. Just watching this video took me back to that time. Shudders. The film had to come out again without the subliminal messages.

I screened a current home video version of The Exorcist, with the subliminal demon faces inserted throughout the film clearly visible, for a lady who'd never seen the movie. The Innocents, 1961's version of Henry James' The Turn of the Screw. gave her the creeps, but her immediate reaction to The Exorcist was ''It's not scary. '' And, for the record, the lady is a practicing Catholic.
