First of all to those who say Black Christmas started the slasher genre or that Halloween did you are both wrong, Psycho started the slasher genre but Halloween is the film that made slasher and even horror in general what it is today. For example, if there was no Michael Myers then there would be no Jason as stated by the creators of Jason in a documentary.
Secondly to those who are foolish enough to not understand why it is such a popular film and considered the greatest or at least one of the greatest horror films of all time is because back in the 70s a movie like Halloween was absolutely TERRIFYING. The reason a lot of you can't seem to comprehend that is because most likely you are kids who grew up in an era where massive amounts of blood and gore is quite common in horror films today which in my personal opinion doesn't make a horror film scary. Matter of fact if you would like to know what I'm talking about search up on YouTube Halloween 1978 audience reaction and you just might get it.
Halloween had everything, the lighting, the suspense, the atmosphere and the unexpected.

I never understood the praise for this film. I mean, I've watched the first two films in the franchise so long ago that I've lived my whole life remembering a masterpiece only to realize as an adult that in the original film, it's never explained why there's a crazy masked dude haunting a teenager. not once. That revelation is on the second film, which was released 3 YEARS LATER. That means that for the forseeable future, when the first film was released, no one understood the plot of the film. How can a film be a masterpiece if it requires an unannounced sequel to explain its plot?

Halloween (1978) is the best horror film that I have in my entire collection, and my favourite. I have all the sequels etc, as well, but nothing beats the original to me. I still find it really intense to watch as when I first viewed it all those years ago (by myself at night-time of course.

Not a big deal, but I'm only mentioning this, because I literally just watched the documentary on the movie from around 2010-2011. But, the budget was originally 300, 000, but after signing Donald, it became 325, 000 since they paid him 25k.

Gotta re-watch this, it's been many years since I last saw it. A classic indeed!
320, 000 is about 1, 2 million in today's value. That should have really been clarified in the video.

2: 00 is wrong, I watched a documentary where the woman said they all wore their own clothes. It was in the summer and the leaves were picked up to be reused.

The only issue I have with this video is what was said about there clothing. They actually used the actors personal clothing they didnt purchase cheap clothing.
