I'm not a fan of Russeau's treatment of the Hulk in this regard. Perhaps I should say his treatment of Banner. I'll give him points for creativity, but ultimately, as far as I'm aware, the first time Banner willingly Hulked was in the Avengers. Banners character has clearly developed that Banner himself would rather die than risk the Hulk bringing harm to others, even if the others aren't all that friendly. Thus Banner had always resisted Hulk emerging. He takes the do no harm clause of the Hippocratic oath as his prime directive, since he is a doctor, after all.
As an Avenger, Banner only willingly relinquishes control to the Hulk when Alien forces threaten humanity. Comparative evils. Yet while Banner may have considered fighting for the cause of another worthwhile, Hulk did not share those values
Yet even then Banner laments the harm Hulk may have caused. To say that Banner has become accustomed to using the Hulk to solve his problems is to reinvent Banner, even by MCU Canon alone.
On the other hand, prior to becoming an Avenger, the Hulk had alwaya taken the initiative over Banner's objection when Banner's safety was threatened. After all, if Banner dies, Hulk dies. I can see the Hulk resenting his new role reversal of being summoned by Banner to suit Banner's altruistic designs, only to repeatedly be discarded once his usefulness has been fulfilled. I can see Hulk resenting this kind of fair weather treatment, and now refusing to participate. I don't think fear plays into it, but he will not again put his own life on the line for someone else's cause.
Hulk never used to care about anyone but himself. But when he saw Stark falling from a selfless act, Hulk for the first time overtly acted to rescue a friend. Since then, he's been treated like a suit to be put on and removed, with no care paid when not needed. Then in Ragnarok, Hulk learned what it was to be admired, and actually have a life of his own, and to care about a woman (Valkyrie.
I don't blame Hulk now for no longer wanting to be just a suit for Banner to suit up to in. Even Stark and Cap referred to Hulk that way, not realizing he was a separate person, and not just one side of Banner
I have experienced interpersonal relationships where I was only invited when someone needed something. I didn't like it much either.

Yeah but maybe have a personality conflict in hulk movie not during a time he is needed against the strongest bad guy Thanos. Bad timing to do all that after getting whooped by Thanos. Hulk has been hit by far worse and far more hard by other things and didn't tire or weaken he just got stronger and more angry so why did he during the fight of thanos? I think they just didn't want the strongest Avenger to be available because that's what people would want to see against Thanos so they had to make a reason the hulk wouldn't be in the film as much and make the weaker Avengers give a good fight. Crap if you ask me really disappointed.

Joe Russo is either a terrible presenter or trying to defend himself from an incredible flop. Or maybe he's just one of the several elitist who thinks he can pull off anything and get away with it. I think he just doesn't understand the true nature of the Hulk and, therefore, is not able to presentTRUE value the Hulk brings to the box office. I'm sure every spectator watching the movie was of one mind after observing the Hulk role in Infinity Wars Mr Russo, let's see you try to recover your version of the hulk to align more accurately of the true character. I think you'll need Hulk's assistance here.

I feel like Dr. Strange could've done a lot more to destroy Thanos than he did in the movie. Such as creating a portal for Thanos to fall into, but closing the portal early, effectively cutting Thanos in half, like he cut off that one alien's hand when he was fighting with Ironman & Spiderman in the park (while leaving the hand clutching the Infinity Gauntlet on the same portal end with The Avengers, of course.
Or maybe he could've tapped Thanos in the Mirror Dimension forever, since you theoretically need a 'Sling Ring' to ever escape from the Mirror Dimension. Things like that.

It's terrible what they did to hulk. Hulk is a transformation that happens when Bruce is unable to control certain aspects of his feelings gs and emotions. Once that happens his anger takes over and for years and years the angrier you made him the bigger meaner and stronger ger he would get. They showed him getting whipped and then chickening out. Hulk didn't care who is on his team. Good guys and bad guys would get it just alike if you got in his way. For years and years he was one of my favorites. Definitely top 5. They have disgraced the hulk and marvel should be ashames!

The real answer is because he's scared. Not of Thanos and his henchmen, but of himself. Go back and watch the Hulkbuster fight in Age of Ultron. In the final moments, the Hulk pauses and takes in the pure devastation he created which Tony takes advantage of to knock him out. At the end of the film, he's filled with incredible amounts of guilt and remorse over what he did and even took it upon himself to abandon Earth so it can never happen again. He grudgingly accepts Thors request in Ragnarok but the moment he set foot on Earth, he refused to be used like that.

I think hes tired of being used and treated like a tool only to be summoned when they need him and then put away he had some serious time to think in ragnarok. Hulk may have also realized he Banner uses the hulk to run away from a problem. Throw in a little hurt ego from Thanos and hes not coming out. Now for my person opinion I think they both need to stop thinking of themselves as two separate people. They could be so much more if they could talk to each other and realize Banner and Hulk are one in the same. (Edited for spelling)

I also think think the reason hulk wouldnt come out was because he was sent back to earth by force to do some work. The hulk left earth in the first place because he didnt feel good with all the people of earth hating on him and didnt want to hurt anymore people as well. Thats why when heimdall sent him down to earth, knowing shit was about to go down, he decided to turn back to Bruce so that people of earth werent hurt, and the only way of doing that was to make Bruce work for himself
