ehhh most critics now are just paid off or take their job way too seriously. These movies arent supposed to be The Godfather which I guarantee would get crucified by today's critics. I wouldn't say it's politics although it might factor in for some people.
I put the blame on Disney for one. They are hot to get the rights back from Sony and Fox so that they are the only company with access to the Marvel characters. They were able to reach a deal to bring Spider-Man in for a few movies but they want to own him along with the Fantastic 4 and X-Men characters.
So I wouldnt be surprised if some of these critics are being paid to say Venom is catastrophically bad to hurt sales and make Sony and Fox give up and sell the rights to Disney. It's not up to the critics though. It's just a little odd how nearly every comic book movie gets treated like crap except Disney made movies. Some are good and others are just okay in some instances there's been a few that missed but critics act like each one is a masterpiece. Trust me. They're not all that spectacular.

Guess these critics didnt get paid thier blood money by sony so now thier winning about it. Sony do more movies like this STICK WITH THE CHARACTER AND SOURCE MATERIAL! You guys did that well, even cutting out the spiderman arch. Dont let the critics rattle that cage. Tom Hardy pulled it off, and were all want to see woody hareldson as carnage.
You guys did great with putting a kind of elon musk like character as the villan. You guys gave Eddie the life a will of an actual person, though yeah up his aggressive nature a bit more next movie. Still i will say a couple of things against the movie. 1 Eminem is a great rapper, no denying that, but to have a rap song as his theme is alittle disjointed, most people take venom as metal head, just saying. Last of all, did anyone else notice that when ann had on the symbiote that she was more well endowed than the actress, i hope that was semi intentional.

This movie should have never been made. PERIOD! You can't take a secondary character and try to make him a main character. Without Spider-Man Venom is not the same. Whats worse is this piece of shit has robbed us of a great potential villain in future MCU Spider-Man films all because Sony wants to keep alive their ridiculous idea of a Comic-Universe involving Spider-Man characters but no Spider-Man. It shows how little they respect the integrity of the characters they are adapting or the fans of those characters. I get it they want to make money but making money and good films is not mutually exclusive. Much like Disney learned with The Last-Jedi and Solo Sony will realize that if they keep serving shit no one is going to buy it.

I grew up with Spider-Man before the black suit. When he first appeared with it, when I was 8, I thought it was really cool. Then, finding out it was an alien was mind-blowing.
So, when they started making Spider-Man movies, I hoped they would get to Venom. Sadly, the disappointment of Spider-Man 3's Venom left a lot to be desired.
Then, news of this incarnation came about, and I was hoping it would be good, but was afraid to put too much hope into it, because of the previous disappointment.
Luckily, they did right by Venom. Yes, they had to change things to make it work, but they did make it work! Now, I hope we get to see decent versions of Carnage, Anti-Venom, and Toxin, among other symbiotes.

I'm not holding my breath for this film. The trailers have given us some really cringy edge lord wannabe lines. That said, I don't care for what the critics say. These are the same people who rate every movie that comes out as The greatest movie of all time, and do you know why? They're hipsters, that's why. They want to be ahead of the curve so they rate something they want to see positively, hoping it will become the new trend. That and Hollywood tends to be so full of itself. Anyone remember when the emoji movie was nominated for an Oscar? Despite that fact that there were other, better animated films that came out that year.

This movie while sure, there are some plot holes but has one thing that makes it better than some marvel movies, it was FUN to watch, venom is no hero, he does whatever he wants. Marvel superheroes are obligated to save the day and to follow the rules and you just sigh because when you think about it, every starter hero movie is the same, we meet hero, hero does something to be noticed, hero goes against final battle of movie, hero wins. But venom, no no, different, Eddie is scared because Ill put it like this, at the beginning, venom had the keys to the car and Eddie was locked in the trunk.

I think it is important to understand that liking a movie is different from a movie being good from a critic's point of view. For example, Moonlight is a film marvel from a critic's point of view, but I didn't think it was that great. At the same time, I really loved The Boondock Saints, but it was a bad movie from a critic's point of view. Another example would be The Greatest Showman. It has pretty average ratings from critics, but I thought it was a really good movie. So I think the bottom line here is that liking a movie is different from a movie being good from a critic's point of view.

The movie was paced amazingly well and gasp there was actual character development. Not just for Brock but for venom and Anne as well. It was a more grown up super hero movie so to speak, so maybe that's why it was panned. It DEFINITELY would've benefited more by going R but I'm sure marvel had something to do with that. Good movie, worth a ticket. I, for the life of me, still don't understand critics. What do we even need them for? I've never been like, oh the reviews are horrible, so I'll stay home. Reviews are just glorified opinions.

I would give Venom a 7. 5/10, it is pretty hilarious but I can't it seriously, however, that is the charm of the movie, don't take it too seriously despite its appearance and enjoy its good humour writing and plot. But Yeah Rotten Tomatoes give The Last Jedi 91% rating when audience think it's shit(because it is shit, while giving Venom low score when audience give it high(because it is good. Never trust movie and game critics, they are either paid by the production company or overly nitpicking about movies/games.
